Summary
Yelp is looking for a Lead Product Manager to own ad format strategy and execution across our most important consumer surfaces. In this highly visible and impactful role, you'll define how ads look, where they appear, and how they perform. You are responsible for driving improvements to ad design, placement, and layout across Yelp's search results page and within Yelp Assistant, our AI-powered chat interface where ads are an emerging and important part of the experience.
If you're looking to own a high-impact part of the ads system at a billion-dollar company and would enjoy working closely with engineers, data scientists, designers, and peer product teams, then this is the role for you.
This opportunity is fully remote and does not require you to be located in any particular state within the US. We welcome applicants from throughout the US. We’d love to have you apply, even if you don’t feel you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Yelp, we’re looking for great people, not just those who simply check off all the boxes.
What you'll do:
- Own the product strategy and roadmap for ad formats and placements across Yelp's core surfaces
- Define and test new ad formats and layouts, including how ad content adapts by business type, context, and user intent
- Drive advertising integration into evolving Yelp experiences, including Yelp Assistant, our AI-powered chat interface
- Enhance the UX and design of ad units to improve relevance, performance, and the overall consumer experience
- Partner with Data Science to design experiments, set success metrics, and interpret results — including tradeoffs between user experience and advertiser performance
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Search Product, and Ads teams to ship changes that move metrics on Yelp's highest-traffic surfaces
- Work with Ads Auction and Ranking to understand how format decisions interact with targeting and delivery systems
What it takes to succeed:
- Experience as a Product Manager in advertising, monetization, or search with a deep understanding of how ad formats, placements, and ad systems work together
- Customer driven: energized by growing revenue and translating both consumers' and businesses' needs into concrete features
- Problem solver: loves breaking down complex, unstructured problems into concrete features from conception to launch
- Effective communicator: able to synthesize and translate between technical and non-technical audiences across stakeholders with complex tradeoffs
- Tech savvy: has experience solving difficult, technically complex ads and product problems
- Strong collaborator: enjoys working across different teams, functions, and product surfaces
- Operational know-how: diligent on improving processes around ads system reliability and metrics monitoring, constantly thinks about how to make processes more efficient
What you'll get:
There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience. Based on the anticipated level of experience we are seeking, we expect the compensation range for this role to be between $149,000 and $269,000.
- You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
- In the event a candidate is hired into a role that is leveled higher or lower than the role specified in this job posting, the compensation range may vary accordingly.
- A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent work experience is required.
- This opportunity has the option to be fully remote in all locations across the US.

Target engineering and product roles first
Yelp's sponsorship history is strongest in technical roles like software engineering and data science. If you're in a specialty occupation within tech, these departments offer the most realistic path to H-1B or E-3 sponsorship at Yelp.
Australians should ask about the E-3 specifically
Yelp has sponsored E-3 visas, which is meaningful, many tech companies overlook this category. If you're an Australian citizen, flag your E-3 eligibility early in conversations with recruiters, as it simplifies their process considerably.
Understand that Yelp sponsors Green Cards too
Yelp supports long-term immigration, including EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways. If permanent residency is your goal, ask recruiters directly about their PERM sponsorship policy and typical timelines for your role level.
Apply before H-1B lottery season closes
For H-1B roles at Yelp, timing matters. Employers must file petitions by April each year for an October start. Targeting Yelp openings in late 2025 or early 2026 gives you the best chance of being included in that cycle.
Use verified sponsorship data when searching
Not every Yelp job listing mentions visa sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find Yelp roles confirmed to have sponsored candidates in your visa category.
Align your application to Yelp's core business strengths
Yelp operates at the intersection of local commerce, machine learning, and consumer technology. Candidates whose skills connect to search relevance, business intelligence, or platform scalability tend to be stronger fits for sponsored roles.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Yelp sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Yelp sponsors H-1B visas and has a consistent track record of doing so across technical roles. The company tends to sponsor candidates in software engineering, data science, and related specialty occupations. If you're applying for a technical role, it's reasonable to ask the recruiter directly about H-1B sponsorship availability for that position.
Which visa types does Yelp sponsor?
Yelp sponsors H-1B, E-3 visa, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. This makes it a strong option for both nonimmigrant workers seeking temporary work authorization and candidates planning for permanent residency. Australian citizens should specifically highlight their E-3 visa eligibility, as it removes the lottery requirement and can speed up the process.
Which departments or roles at Yelp are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Visa sponsorship at Yelp is most common in technical departments, particularly software engineering, data science, and machine learning. These roles meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B and E-3 petitions. Non-technical roles such as sales or operations are less commonly sponsored, though it depends on the seniority and specific job duties involved.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at Yelp?
Many job listings don't clearly state whether visa sponsorship is available, which makes it hard to know before applying. Migrate Mate lists roles from verified sponsors like Yelp, filtered by visa type and sponsorship history, so you can search with confidence rather than guessing from a generic job description. This saves time and helps you prioritize applications at companies with a real track record.
How do I improve my chances of getting sponsored by Yelp?
The strongest applications for sponsored roles at Yelp come from candidates with clearly defined specialty occupation backgrounds in tech. Tailor your resume to reflect skills relevant to Yelp's core products, such as local search, data infrastructure, or consumer-facing platforms. Apply early relative to H-1B cap deadlines, and be direct with recruiters about your visa status and timeline from the first conversation.
