Align your credentials with CPA expectations
Zions Bancorporation typically expects accounting candidates to hold or be actively pursuing CPA licensure. Having your foreign academic credentials evaluated by a NACES-approved agency before you apply removes a common friction point during the H-1B specialty occupation assessment.
Target roles tied to regulatory reporting
Positions focused on call report preparation, FDIC regulatory filings, or SOX compliance tend to generate the clearest specialty occupation arguments for H-1B purposes. Framing your experience around bank-specific financial reporting strengthens your petition before it reaches USCIS.
Research open Accountant postings through Migrate Mate
Zions Bancorporation posts accountant openings across multiple subsidiary banking brands. Use Migrate Mate to filter for visa-sponsoring roles and identify which business units are actively hiring, so you can target your outreach precisely.
Clarify sponsorship intent before the offer stage
Ask during the final interview round whether the specific team has initiated H-1B petitions before. Zions operates across several states, and sponsorship decisions can vary by subsidiary, so confirming early prevents delays once you reach the offer negotiation stage.
Understand the PERM timeline for Green Card planning
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, DOL requires PERM labor certification before an I-140 petition can be filed. Banking employers typically begin this process after your first or second year, so knowing the sequence helps you set realistic expectations for permanent residence.
Prepare for H-1B cap timing if changing status
If you're on OPT and targeting a full-time accountant role, the H-1B cap filing window opens in March for an October 1 start date. Engaging Zions Bancorporation's HR team well before March gives the legal and payroll departments time to prepare your petition documentation.

Does Zions Bancorporation sponsor H-1B visas for Accountants?
Yes, Zions Bancorporation sponsors H-1B visas for Accountant roles. Accounting positions at the company generally satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements because they demand at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field. Sponsorship decisions are typically made at the business unit level, so confirming with the hiring team directly during the interview process is the clearest path to knowing your specific petition will move forward.
Which visa types are commonly used for Accountant roles at Zions Bancorporation?
H-1B is the primary nonimmigrant visa used for accountants at Zions Bancorporation. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, the company has sponsored both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, which require PERM labor certification through the DOL before USCIS can adjudicate an I-140 immigrant petition. Candidates already holding L-1 or O-1 status may also be considered, though these are less common for standard accounting functions.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Accountant roles at Zions Bancorporation?
Most accountant positions at Zions Bancorporation require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with CPA licensure either completed or in progress. Practical experience with bank regulatory reporting, such as call reports or FDIC filings, is a strong differentiator. Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal audit frameworks is frequently referenced in job postings, particularly for mid-level and senior accounting roles within the organization.
How do I apply for Accountant jobs at Zions Bancorporation?
You can browse and apply for Accountant positions at Zions Bancorporation through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where visa sponsorship is available so you can focus your applications strategically. Zions operates under several regional bank brands, and roles may be posted under different subsidiary names. Applying through the correct subsidiary portal and tailoring your resume to highlight bank-specific accounting experience improves your chances of moving through the initial screening stage.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for an Accountant role at Zions Bancorporation?
If you need H-1B sponsorship, the cap filing window opens each March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, your employer can apply 60 days before your OPT end date for a cap-exempt change of status if your STEM extension is active. Engaging Zions Bancorporation's HR and legal teams several months before the March registration window gives them adequate time to prepare your petition through USCIS.
