Concrete Finisher Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a concrete finisher in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license specifically for concrete finishers, so the path into the trade runs through on-the-job training, apprenticeship, or vocational programs. The Associated Builders and Contractors of Texas and the Texas chapter of AGC both offer apprenticeship and craft training programs that employers recognize. Earning an OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety card and completing a flatwork or decorative concrete course through a Texas community college strengthens your candidacy significantly.
How much do concrete finishers make in Texas?
Concrete finishers in Texas earn a median of about $47,500 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $36,360 for the lowest 10% to over $60,770 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire concrete finishers in Texas?
Employers hiring concrete finishers in Texas right now include Granite Construction, Audubon Companies, and Crossland Construction Company, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's sustained commercial and infrastructure build-out means large general contractors and specialty flatwork subcontractors across the state maintain year-round crews.
Which Texas cities have the most concrete finisher jobs?
Houston, Humble, and Irving are the Texas cities with the most concrete finisher openings, reflecting the state's largest construction markets. Houston's port expansion and energy corridor development, Dallas-Fort Worth's commercial and mixed-use boom, and San Antonio's steady military and infrastructure investment all generate consistent demand for finishing crews throughout the year.
Are there remote concrete finisher jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Concrete finishing is fundamentally on-site, hands-on work, and the role cannot be performed remotely. About 0% of concrete finisher openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those listings typically involve estimating, project coordination, or quality inspection tasks attached to a finishing role rather than the finishing work itself.
How can I get hired as a concrete finisher in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a laborer or concrete crew helper position with a Texas commercial contractor, where you work alongside experienced finishers and build hands-on skills. Large Texas contractors such as Zachry Group and regional flatwork subcontractors regularly bring on helpers with no finishing background. Enrolling in the Associated Builders and Contractors of Texas apprenticeship program and earning an OSHA 10-Hour card before applying puts you ahead of most first-time applicants.
Where can I find and apply to concrete finisher jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to concrete finisher jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from contractors and employers across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
