Construction Jobs in Jacksonville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction job in Jacksonville?
Focus your search on Jacksonville's most active hiring pockets: the Southside commercial corridor, Downtown redevelopment projects, and the industrial zones near Cecil Commerce Center. General contractors, civil engineering firms, and residential developers drive the most volume. Candidates with OSHA certifications, Blueprint reading skills, or experience in concrete, electrical, or project coordination stand out. Showing up to local union halls and trade association meetings also opens doors that online applications don't.
Which companies hire constructions in Jacksonville?
Companies currently hiring constructions in Jacksonville include IQ Fiber, Meritage Homes, and The Foth Companies, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Jacksonville's market includes a mix of national general contractors with regional offices, local specialty subcontractors, and municipal agencies managing port, infrastructure, and public works projects.
Are there remote construction jobs in Jacksonville?
Yes, but only for a narrow slice of roles. Hands-on trades, site supervision, and field work are almost entirely on-site by nature. About 50% of construction openings tied to Jacksonville are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, concentrated in roles like estimating, project management, and BIM coordination. Those desk-based functions are the most realistic targets for anyone seeking flexibility in Jacksonville's construction market.
How can I get a construction job in Jacksonville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Jacksonville is through a union apprenticeship, with local chapters of the Carpenters, Ironworkers, and Electricians unions actively recruiting beginners. Jacksonville's residential boom on the Northside and St. Johns County suburbs also means smaller homebuilders and framing crews regularly hire laborers without experience. Starting as a site laborer, material handler, or helper on a crew lets you build credentials while earning a paycheck and getting sponsored for OSHA training.
