About the Position

We are looking for an experienced, organized, and hands-on Project Lead / Residential Construction Manager to join our growing construction team.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in residential remodeling, renovations, and general construction who can take ownership of active projects while also being willing to get their hands dirty and work alongside the crew when needed.

The Project Lead will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of residential construction projects, coordinating subcontractors and on-site trades, helping source and coordinate materials, monitoring schedules and workmanship, identifying issues before they become problems, reporting to management, and helping drive projects to timely completion.

This is not a purely administrative project management position. The successful candidate needs to be comfortable working in the field and jumping in to help the crew when necessary. Whether that means assisting with demolition, helping with painting, performing basic carpentry, moving materials, cleaning up a jobsite, or helping solve an unexpected field issue, the Project Lead should be willing and able to contribute wherever needed.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject & Field Management

• Manage the daily operations of active residential remodeling and construction projects.
• Serve as the primary field leader responsible for keeping projects organized and moving forward.
• Coordinate subcontractors, employees, vendors, suppliers, homeowners, and other parties involved with each project.
• Establish daily and weekly priorities to keep projects on schedule.
• Monitor project progress and identify potential delays, conflicts, or issues before they impact the schedule.
• Conduct regular jobsite walkthroughs and verify that work is being completed according to plans, specifications, and company standards.
• Ensure jobsites remain organized, safe, clean, and professional.
• Coordinate sequencing of trades so subcontractors and crew members can work efficiently.
• Follow up with subcontractors and crew members to ensure commitments and deadlines are being met.
• Coordinate inspections, deliveries, material staging, and other project requirements.
• Assist with project closeout, punch lists, final inspections, and completion.

Hands-On Construction Support

The Project Lead must be willing and able to work alongside the crew when necessary.

While the primary responsibility is project leadership and coordination, there will be times when the best way to keep a project moving is to jump in and help get the work done.

Responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with demolition and site preparation.
• Helping with framing and basic carpentry.
• Assisting with drywall installation and repairs.
• Performing basic painting, touch-ups, and finish work.
• Installing or assisting with trim, doors, hardware, and other finish materials.
• Moving and staging materials.
• Helping with jobsite cleanup and organization.
• Assisting crew members with physically demanding tasks.
• Helping troubleshoot and resolve unexpected field conditions.
• Performing minor repairs or corrections when appropriate.
• Helping the crew stay productive when a particular task is holding up the project.
• Stepping in wherever reasonably necessary to keep the project moving toward completion.

The ideal candidate understands that being a leader does not mean being afraid to pick up a tool. We want someone who can manage a project, but who is also comfortable working alongside the team when circumstances require it.

Subcontractor & Trade Coordination

• Communicate daily with subcontractors and trade partners regarding schedules, scope of work, and jobsite requirements.
• Coordinate multiple trades working simultaneously or sequentially.
• Verify that subcontractors understand the scope of work and project expectations.
• Monitor workmanship and identify deficiencies that need to be corrected.
• Help resolve scheduling conflicts and field issues.
• Hold subcontractors accountable for agreed-upon schedules and quality standards.
• Maintain strong relationships with reliable subcontractors and vendors.
• Help identify and source additional subcontractors when necessary.
• Ensure subcontractors have the information, materials, and site conditions necessary to perform their work efficiently.

Materials & Procurement

• Assist with sourcing, ordering, and coordinating delivery of construction materials.
• Track material requirements and identify upcoming needs before they become schedule issues.
• Coordinate with suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
• Help compare material options and identify cost-effective solutions.
• Verify that materials delivered to the jobsite are correct and undamaged.
• Organize and stage materials so crews can work efficiently.
• Communicate material shortages, backorders, or availability issues to management immediately.
• Help find alternatives when materials are unavailable or lead times threaten the project schedule.

Project Scheduling

• Maintain awareness of overall project schedules and upcoming milestones.
• Develop and communicate short-term schedules and weekly priorities.
• Coordinate trade schedules and material deliveries.
• Monitor progress against the planned schedule.
• Identify potential schedule delays and develop solutions.
• Adjust priorities as necessary based on field conditions.
• Communicate schedule changes to subcontractors, crew members, management, and other stakeholders.
• Help ensure there is always a clear understanding of what needs to happen next on each project.

Communication & Reporting

• Provide regular project updates to company management.
• Report jobsite progress, issues, delays, material needs, subcontractor concerns, and potential problems.
• Take and maintain jobsite photos documenting project progress.
• Maintain accurate project notes and records.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners and other project stakeholders when required.
• Escalate significant budget, schedule, quality, or safety issues promptly.
• Maintain clear communication between the field, office, management, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Quality Control

• Monitor completed work for quality and adherence to project requirements.
• Identify workmanship issues and ensure corrections are completed.
• Help maintain company standards for finish quality and professionalism.
• Review work before moving projects to the next phase.
• Inspect work performed by crew members and subcontractors.
• Assist with punch-list management and final quality control.
• Take pride in the finished product and ensure the project is completed to a high standard.

The ideal candidate has hands-on residential construction experience and understands how a remodeling project actually gets built.

You should be someone who can walk onto a jobsite, quickly understand what needs to happen, communicate with the trades, identify problems, and take action to keep the project moving.

Just as importantly, you should be someone who is not afraid to work alongside the crew.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in residential construction, remodeling, renovation, or a related field.
• Previous experience leading, supervising, or coordinating residential construction projects.
• Strong understanding of residential construction processes and sequencing.
• Hands-on experience with multiple residential construction tasks.
• Working knowledge of demolition, carpentry, painting, drywall, framing, trim, and general remodeling.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction trades and terminology.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and vendors.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Comfortable working in active residential construction environments.
• Ability to perform physical construction tasks when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Project Manager, Project Lead, Superintendent, Foreman, Lead Carpenter, Remodeler, or similar position.
• Experience managing residential remodels from demolition through completion.
• Experience with kitchens, bathrooms, additions, whole-home remodels, or exterior renovations.
• Strong carpentry skills.
• Experience with finish work and painting.
• Experience estimating or reviewing construction scopes.
• Experience with construction scheduling and project management software.
• Experience sourcing materials and negotiating with suppliers.
• Familiarity with local permitting and inspection processes.
• Existing relationships with residential subcontractors and trade professionals.
• OSHA or other construction safety training.
