Construction Project Manager Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction project manager job in Boston?
Focus your search on Boston's three heaviest hiring sectors: healthcare and life sciences construction around Longwood and the Seaport, commercial and mixed-use development downtown, and higher education capital projects across the Fenway and Allston corridors. General contractors, owner's rep firms, and large academic medical centers post frequently. Candidates with LEED credentials, experience managing public bidding processes, or familiarity with Boston's union labor environment stand out.
Which companies hire construction project managers in Boston?
Employers hiring construction project managers in Boston right now include Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and JLL, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Boston's market skews toward large general contractors, specialized healthcare construction firms, and owner's rep organizations serving hospitals, universities, and life sciences campuses.
Are there remote construction project manager jobs in Boston?
Yes, but only in limited capacities, since construction project management is inherently site-dependent and most roles require regular on-site presence. About 83% of construction project manager openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, typically covering pre-construction planning, estimating, or owner's rep coordination roles where daily site visits are less essential.
How can I get a construction project manager job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is through a project engineer or assistant project manager role with a mid-size general contractor or specialty subcontractor working on healthcare or institutional projects. Boston's volume of hospital expansion and university capital programs creates consistent entry-level openings. A degree in construction management or civil engineering, combined with an internship through a Boston-area firm, gives candidates a concrete foothold.
Which industries hire the most construction project managers in Boston?
Boston construction project manager roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Boston's dense cluster of teaching hospitals, biotech campuses, and major universities sustains unusually high construction activity compared to peer cities, keeping demand for experienced project managers consistently strong.
