Job Title: Aquatics Director/Head Coach, Infant & Toddler Program

Reports To: Operations Manager / Director of Operations

Location: Waltham & Wellesley, MA

Position Summary:

The Aquatics Director/Head Coach, Infant & Toddler Program is responsible for the leadership, organization, and daily management of Tiburon Swim Academy’s Parent-Child and Mini programs. This role supports program growth, curriculum execution, coach development, swimmer and family experience, and selected direct teaching responsibilities while helping maintain a safe, structured, and high-quality learning environment for infants, toddlers, preschool swimmers, and their families.

The Head Coach is expected to represent Tiburon Swim Academy in a professional manner, support the academy’s standards on deck, communicate effectively with families and staff, and contribute to the long-term success of the Infant & Toddler Program.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Leadership and Oversight

• Lead and grow Tiburon Swim Academy’s Infant & Toddler Program, including Parent-Child and Mini levels.
• Oversee the daily operation of assigned classes and support a consistent, high-quality experience for families.
• Maintain and improve class structure, curriculum, lesson flow, and swimmer progression.
• Support program development and help strengthen the overall quality and consistency of early childhood instruction.

Coaching and Swimmer Development

• Teach a portion of Parent-Child and Mini classes as assigned.
• Provide occasional Level 1 instruction when needed based on program needs.
• Deliver safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate lessons for infants, toddlers, preschool swimmers, and parents.
• Support swimmer comfort, confidence, water safety, and early skill development through structured instruction.

Staff Leadership and Development

• Help hire, train, and manage Parent-Child and Mini coaches.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, feedback, and ongoing evaluation for coaching staff.
• Support staff development through observation, coaching guidance, and reinforcement of Tiburon Swim Academy teaching standards.
• Help ensure consistency in instruction, professionalism, and swimmer experience across the program.

Family Experience and Communication

• Build positive relationships with families and create a welcoming, supportive environment.
• Communicate professionally with parents regarding class expectations, swimmer progress, and program needs.
• Help address parent questions, concerns, and program-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Support a family-centered experience that reflects Tiburon Swim Academy’s standards and values.

Safety and Learning Environment

• Ensure a safe, engaging, and age-appropriate learning environment during all assigned classes and activities.
• Follow all pool safety rules, emergency procedures, and supervisory expectations.
• Report safety concerns, incidents, or operational issues to management promptly.
• Support a positive and organized deck environment for swimmers, families, and staff.

Administrative and Operational Responsibilities

• Support scheduling, staffing, and other administrative responsibilities related to program oversight.
• Assist with organizing coaching assignments and helping maintain smooth daily operations within the program.
• Communicate program needs, staffing concerns, and operational issues to management.
• Support additional coaching or operational duties as needed to meet department and organizational needs.

Qualifications:

• Experience specializing in infant and toddler swim instruction, including Parent-Child and early swim levels, required.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to build relationships with families and create a welcoming environment.
• Organized, reliable, and proactive in program development and daily operations.
• Passion for early childhood development, water safety, and high-quality swim instruction.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and/or Lifeguard certifications preferred or required based on role expectations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain active on the pool deck and in the water for extended periods.
• Ability to demonstrate swim skills and assist in the water when needed.
• Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment as needed.
• Comfortable working in hot, humid, wet, or fast-paced pool environments.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position scheduled for approximately 40 hours per week. The role includes a combination of coaching hours and administrative or program leadership responsibilities. Work hours are based on program needs and may include weekday, evening, and weekend availability as required.

Please note: These duties can change based on the changing needs of the department and organization.

Pay: From $58,240.00 per year
