Events Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a events manager in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license to work as an events manager, so the path runs through education and voluntary credentials. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in hospitality management, communications, or marketing, often from institutions such as Boston University, Northeastern, or UMass Amherst. Earning the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation significantly strengthens a candidacy in the Boston corporate and higher-education market, where that credential is widely recognized.
Which companies hire events managers in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts events manager roles are posted by Harvard University, Highgate, and Navan and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The state's density of universities, major hospital systems, and life-sciences headquarters generates consistent year-round demand well beyond the traditional hospitality sector.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most events manager jobs?
Boston, Cambridge, and Canton account for the highest concentration of events manager openings in Massachusetts. Boston drives the largest share through its headquarters offices, convention venues, and anchor institutions, while Cambridge's university and biotech campuses generate steady conference and symposium demand, and Worcester's growing healthcare and academic sector supports a smaller but active local market.
Are there remote events manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they're rare. About 75% of events manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting that most of the role requires on-site coordination of venues, vendors, and attendees. The portions most likely to be done remotely are early-stage planning, budget management, and post-event reporting.
How can I get hired as a events manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an events coordinator or event assistant role at a Boston-area hospital, university, or hotel group, where structured workflows give candidates rapid exposure to logistics, vendor management, and budgeting. Employers such as Marriott properties and major academic medical centers in Boston regularly bring in entry-level coordinators. Volunteering with Boston nonprofit galas or securing the Certified Meeting Professional associate pathway credential can sharpen a resume before a first full-time application.
Where can I find and apply to events manager jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to events manager jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across Boston, Cambridge, Worcester, and the rest of the state. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to each employer through the listings.
