Job Summary
Maintech is seeking an experienced Team Lead / Engineer in Charge (EIC) to oversee Smart Hands & Eyes (SH&E) operations across five client data centers in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
Reporting to the Account Manager, this hands-on leadership role is responsible for daily operational oversight, ticket management, technical escalations, and ensuring compliance with client policies and service-level agreements (SLAs).
The Team Lead/EIC will also mentor and provide technical backline support to less-experienced technicians and serve as backup to the other Team Lead during planned or unplanned absences.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Oversee daily SH&E operations across five client data centers, providing technical guidance and operational support.
- Mentor and provide backline support to technicians, helping strengthen their troubleshooting skills and independence.
- Assist with technician onboarding, training, performance monitoring, and staffing coordination.
- Serve as backup to the other Team Lead during planned or unplanned absences to ensure operational continuity.
- Enforce client policies, including the Data Center Code of Conduct, safety requirements, and timekeeping compliance, ensuring technicians clock in and out as scheduled.
- Address policy violations and escalate recurring issues to the Account Manager.

Ticket Management & Client Communication
- Participate in daily 7:00 AM ET operational roll calls, as scheduled, providing updates on outstanding and past-due service tickets.
- Monitor ServiceNow queues, ticket aging, and potential SLA breaches, following up with technicians to ensure timely resolution.
- Coordinate technical escalations, incident support, and troubleshooting assistance.
- Ensure accurate ticket documentation, work notes, and status updates.
- Communicate unresolved issues, service delays, and operational concerns to the Client.
Technical & Data Center Support
- Install, test, trace, and troubleshoot single-mode/multi-mode fiber optic and Cat 5e/Cat 6 copper network connections.
- Troubleshoot down network links, patch panels, and connectivity issues using Fluke testers, power meters, and other diagnostic tools like VFL.
- Support network appliance installations, including switches, routers, and SFP/QSFP transceivers.
- Assist remote engineering teams through PuTTY console connections, Microsoft Teams sessions, and incident bridges.
- Support data center walkthroughs, amber light checks, inventory, audits, and compliance activities.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on data center or Smart Hands & Eyes experience.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling, network connectivity, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with network testing equipment, patch panels, and basic networking fundamentals.
- Experience using ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems, including incident management and SLA monitoring.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to mentor technicians and coordinate support across multiple locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Team Lead, Senior Technician, or EIC experience.
- Experience supporting enterprise or multi-site data center environments.
- Certifications are a plus but are not required.
- Relevant hands-on experience will be given preference over technical certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift equipment weighing 20–40 pounds.
Ability to safely use an A-frame ladder and perform physical data center activities
Pay: $26.78 - $38.00 per hour
