Strategy Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategy professional in Massachusetts?
Most strategy roles in Massachusetts require a bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or a related field, with an MBA increasingly expected for senior positions. There is no state-issued license for strategy work in Massachusetts. Employers in Boston's consulting corridor and life sciences sector typically want candidates with prior consulting, investment banking, or internal strategy experience. Certifications in project management or data analytics can strengthen applications for roles at healthcare systems and technology firms.
Which companies hire strategy professionals in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring strategys in Massachusetts right now include Thermo Fisher Scientific, CVS Health, and State Street, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of consulting firms, academic medical centers, and life sciences companies makes it one of the more active states for in-house and advisory strategy talent.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most strategy jobs?
Boston, Cambridge, and Waltham account for the largest share of strategy openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge drive most of the volume given the density of management consulting firms, financial services headquarters, and major healthcare and biotech employers, while Worcester's growing healthcare and manufacturing base supports a smaller but steady demand for strategy talent.
Are there remote strategy jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 82% of strategy openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Roles focused on market research, financial modeling, and long-range planning are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements, while positions that require frequent executive presence or cross-functional collaboration in Boston tend to be hybrid.
How can I get hired as a strategy professional in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a rotational or associate program at a large Massachusetts employer. Companies like Fidelity Investments and major Boston teaching hospitals run structured rotational programs that place early-career professionals in strategy or business development functions. Candidates without direct experience can also move in from adjacent roles in financial analysis, operations, or project management. A strong case study portfolio and familiarity with strategy frameworks carry real weight during interviews at Massachusetts consulting and healthcare organizations.
