Strategy Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategy professional in Illinois?
Most strategy roles in Illinois require a bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field, with many senior positions expecting an MBA from a recognized program. Illinois does not require a state-issued license for strategy work, so entry centers on education, demonstrated analytical experience, and a track of measurable business impact. Chicago-area universities including Northwestern, University of Chicago, and DePaul feed directly into corporate strategy pipelines at major Illinois employers.
Which companies hire strategy professionals in Illinois?
Companies currently hiring strategy professionals in Illinois include AbbVie, Mars, and CVS Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's concentration of insurance, consulting, and financial services headquarters means many of the most active strategy teams are based in or just outside Chicago.
Which Illinois cities have the most strategy jobs?
Chicago, Illinois, and North Chicago account for the largest share of strategy openings in Illinois. Chicago drives the bulk of demand through its dense concentration of corporate headquarters, management consulting firms, and financial institutions, while Schaumburg and Naperville generate consistent openings from large employer campuses that house dedicated strategy and planning teams.
Are there remote strategy jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 93% of strategy openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based, analytical nature of the work. Roles focused on competitive research, financial planning, and long-range planning tend to be the most flexible, while positions requiring frequent executive face time or on-site collaboration are more likely to be in-office.
How can I get hired as a strategy professional in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a rotational analyst or associate program, which large Illinois employers such as Allstate, Baxter, and United Airlines run specifically for early-career candidates. Roles in financial analysis, business operations, or market research at the same companies are common lateral entry points that feed into strategy teams. A strong analytical portfolio, case competition experience, or coursework in data modeling from an Illinois university gives candidates a clear edge in these programs.
Where can I find and apply to strategy jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to strategy jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings in one place. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and interests, and apply directly to each one.
