Position Summary
Carlson Construction is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team in Joliet, IL. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader who excels at building strong, lasting relationships with clients, trade partners, and project teams.
Responsibilities
As Project Manager, you will:
- Manage budgeting, estimating, and related activities for large-scale construction projects
- Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and construction personnel
- Select subcontractors, delegate work, and negotiate subcontract agreements
- Provide leadership for estimating, bidding, and pre-construction phases of each project
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with owners, engineers, public officials, trade partners, field superintendents, and construction personnel
- Support the project team, including project managers, contract administration, field superintendents, and accounting
- Resolve issues and proactively address delays, emergencies, and other challenges as they arise
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and all applicable legal requirements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project progress
- Communicate contract and technical matters clearly to clients and stakeholders
- Apply strong time-management skills to accurately estimate work effort and scheduling needs across projects
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience in project management or construction project management on diverse projects
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management preferred, but not required
- Experience with construction or project management software preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, contracts, and blueprints
- Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills
- Strong writing skills for proposals and reports
