Strategy Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategy in California?
California does not require a state-issued license to work in strategy, so the path is credential and experience driven. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field, with an MBA strongly preferred for senior roles. Candidates typically build their foundation through management consulting, investment banking, or corporate finance before transitioning into in-house strategy roles at California's technology, media, or healthcare companies.
Which companies hire strategys in California?
Companies currently hiring strategys in California include Google, OpenAI, and TikTok, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's density of technology headquarters, entertainment studios, and venture-backed growth companies makes it one of the deepest markets for in-house strategy talent in the country.
Which California cities have the most strategy jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose have the most strategy openings in California. The Bay Area leads because of its concentration of technology headquarters and growth-stage startups, while Los Angeles draws heavily from entertainment, media, and consumer brands, and San Diego is anchored by a growing life sciences and defense sector that supports dedicated strategy functions.
Are there remote strategy jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 75% of strategy openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of most strategy work. Roles focused on market research, competitive intelligence, and financial modeling tend to be the most remote, while positions requiring close executive collaboration typically expect in-office presence at least part of the week.
How can I get hired as a strategy in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a rotational business or corporate development program at a large California employer. Companies including major Bay Area technology firms and Los Angeles-based media conglomerates run structured associate or analyst programs designed for recent graduates. A strong foundation in financial modeling or data analysis, paired with an economics or business degree, opens those doors. Lateral moves from roles in financial analysis, product operations, or business intelligence are also common routes into an entry-level strategy title.
Where can I find and apply to strategy jobs in California?
You can find and apply to strategy jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your background, seniority level, and preferred location or remote arrangement, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
