Mid Level Cost Accounting Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level cost accounting manager job?
Position your experience around ownership, not just participation. Highlight cost analyses you led from data pull to management presentation, variance investigations you drove independently, and any process improvements you implemented. Tailor your resume to show progression in scope, not just tenure. Mid level roles go to candidates who demonstrate they can work with minimal direction and defend their findings with confidence.
Which companies hire mid level cost accounting managers?
Companies hiring mid level cost accounting managers right now include Jobot, Loenbro, and Tesla, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Manufacturing companies, distribution firms, and multi-site consumer goods businesses tend to hire at this level most actively, as their cost structures require dedicated professionals who can manage ongoing costing cycles independently.
Are there remote mid level cost accounting manager jobs?
Yes, though remote availability varies by industry and employer. About 19% of mid level cost accounting manager openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with hybrid arrangements being most common at larger organizations that require occasional on-site collaboration for plant walkthroughs, physical inventory counts, or cross-functional meetings with operations teams.
How do I move up to a mid level cost accounting manager role?
The path runs through demonstrated ownership of core costing work. Build depth in standard costing, overhead allocation, and month-end close, then take on variance analysis and present results directly to managers. Pursuing a CPA or CMA credential strengthens the case for promotion. Employers look for professionals who have moved beyond executing tasks to identifying cost drivers and recommending corrective action independently.
Which industries hire the most mid level cost accounting managers?
Mid Level cost accounting manager roles concentrate in Staffing & Recruiting, Manufacturing, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because their operations involve complex product costing, high inventory volumes, or multi-location cost structures that require experienced professionals who can manage ongoing analysis without close supervision.
