POSITION:
The Rice Lake campus of the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire is looking to hire a Lecturer (rank to be determined by experience) to teach the 2026/2027 academic year. Contingent on enrollment and performance, this contract may be renewed. The ideal candidate will have multidisciplinary expertise and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
Candidates must have the ability to teach introductory Biology classes along with Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II. Instructors at the UWEC-Barron County campus are also expected to teach in the Launch program, where promising but at-risk students are taught as a cohort in small classes. The candidate will have the opportunity to teach additional non-majors’ courses in their area of interest.
This appointment begins August 17, 2026.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master of Science in Biology by August 17, 2026 is required. Candidates must have the ability to teach Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II lecture and laboratory. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of passion for and excellence in teaching undergraduates at the beginning of their college careers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of undergraduate teaching.
DUTIES:
The successful candidate will teach 15 hours/semester. There is an expectation that the candidate will teach at least one course for the Launch program per academic year.
DEPARTMENT:
The Barron County campus is the newest addition to the University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire and houses a multidisciplinary academic department. The successful candidate will have an official administrative home at the Barron County campus with concurrent membership in the Eau Claire campus Department of Biology.
COMMUNITY:
The Barron County campus, located in Rice Lake, lies in the heart of beautiful Northwest Wisconsin, one hour north of the Eau Claire campus. Rice Lake has a population of just under 10,000 people and represents the commercial and cultural center for Barron County. Rice Lake and the surrounding countryside feature scenic rivers, lakes, parks, and bike trails.
