We are seeking a motivated and curious QA Engineer Intern to join our team for the Summer term starting June 8, 2026 through August 14, 2026. The Intern will also spend the summer on an individual project customized to their specific skill set which they’ll present to our Tech Leadership team at the end of the program. Details of the projects and timeline will be laid out by supervisors at the beginning of the program.
Responsibilities:
- Attend team meetings
- Perform research
- Create test automation scripts and log defects
- Provide administrative support to their supervisor and teammates

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- A junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree at a college or university majoring in Computer Science, Mathematics or a field closely related to the department they are interning in.
- Able to commit to a full-time (40 hours per week) work schedule for the duration of the internship.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a desire to learn from a rapidly growing company.
- Confident to take initiative and collaborate with teammates.
- Basic understanding of software development and testing concepts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic knowledge of databases and SQL
- Basic programming experience in Java or Python
- Working knowledge VS Code or similar IDE, and basic understanding of version control (Git)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
- Basic understanding of big data concepts (ETL, data pipelines, data warehouses)
- Exposure to or interest in using Gen AI tools to improve testing, automation, or analysis workflows
NICE TO HAVE (OPTIONAL):
- Basic awareness or familiarity with Databricks
- Familiarity with common data formats such as CSV, JSON, or Parquet.
- Exposure to testing tools and bug tracking systems such as Jira

Does a Quality Assurance Engineer role qualify for CPT?
Yes, as long as the work directly relates to your enrolled degree program and your DSO authorizes it. A QA Engineer role in a CS, software engineering, or information systems program typically qualifies because test design, automation, and software validation are core curriculum topics. Your offer letter should describe duties that map to specific courses.
Can I do CPT as a QA Engineer at a startup with no prior sponsorship history?
CPT itself requires no employer sponsorship and no prior filing history. The employer doesn't file anything with USCIS for CPT. The authorization lives entirely on your I-20, issued by your DSO. How does part-time versus full-time CPT affect my OPT later?
Part-time CPT, defined as fewer than 20 hours per week, has no effect on your OPT eligibility after graduation. Full-time CPT totaling 12 months or more eliminates your standard OPT eligibility entirely. If your QA internship runs full-time across multiple semesters, track your cumulative CPT hours carefully with your DSO to protect your OPT options.
