Get Access To All JobsSenior Sap Consultant CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior SAP Consultant role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if your degree program includes coursework directly tied to enterprise systems, ERP implementation, or business process management. Your DSO will evaluate whether the SAP work is an integral part of your curriculum, not just tangentially related. Roles focused on a specific module like FICO or MM tend to be easier to justify academically than broad advisory positions with no clear technical scope.
Can I work on multiple SAP projects for the same employer during one CPT authorization?
CPT authorization is typically tied to a specific employer and the general scope of work described in your offer letter. Rotating across multiple project teams or clients within the same consulting firm may or may not be covered depending on how your DSO framed the authorization. If your role involves client-site placements, clarify with your DSO whether each deployment requires a separate or updated CPT approval before you start.
How do I find Senior SAP Consultant employers who are familiar with CPT?
Large ERP consulting firms and systems integrators with established campus recruiting programs are typically more familiar with CPT work authorization than boutique shops. Migrate Mate filters roles by employers with documented OPT and CPT hiring history in enterprise software, which helps you avoid spending time on employers who will withdraw an offer the moment you mention student authorization requirements.
Does CPT for a Senior SAP Consultant role count toward my 12-month OPT limit?
Only full-time CPT counts. If you complete 12 or more months of full-time CPT across your academic career, you lose eligibility for OPT entirely. Part-time CPT, defined as 20 hours or fewer per week, does not reduce your OPT balance regardless of how long it runs. Most SAP consulting engagements structured around a full implementation cycle are full-time, so track your CPT hours carefully with your DSO.
What documentation do I need to show a Senior SAP Consultant employer before starting on CPT?
You'll need your updated I-20 with the CPT authorization page listing the employer name, work location, and authorized dates, along with your current F-1 visa stamp and I-94 record. Employers enrolled in E-Verify will run an I-9 verification on your first day. Some SAP consulting firms also require a copy of your offer letter and your university's CPT approval letter before finalizing your start date.
