Get Access To All JobsSupply Chain Analytics CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Supply Chain Analytics work qualify as integral to my F-1 curriculum for CPT?
It qualifies if your degree program includes coursework in operations research, data analytics, logistics, or quantitative methods and your DSO can draw a direct line between that coursework and the job duties. Roles involving demand forecasting, inventory modeling, or ERP data analysis typically satisfy this requirement. Roles limited to warehouse operations or manual data entry are harder to justify without a strong academic connection.
Can I do full-time CPT in a Supply Chain Analytics role without losing OPT eligibility?
Full-time CPT accumulating 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. Many F-1 students in supply chain programs structure their CPT as part-time, under 20 hours per week, or spread it across two separate semesters to stay under the 12-month threshold. Your DSO tracks the cumulative count, so confirm your running total before authorizing any new full-time engagement.
What types of employers hire F-1 CPT students for Supply Chain Analytics roles?
Manufacturers, third-party logistics providers, retail chains with large distribution networks, and consulting firms that staff supply chain projects all hire CPT students for analytics work. Companies using SAP, Oracle SCM, or Tableau in their operations are more likely to have structured CPT programs. Search Migrate Mate to find employers with verified sponsorship history in supply chain and analytics roles.
What should the offer letter include for my DSO to authorize Supply Chain Analytics CPT?
The letter needs your job title, start and end dates, hours per week, a description of specific duties, and the employer's name and address. Vague descriptions delay or block authorization. Duties like 'build SQL-based inventory dashboards,' 'support demand planning models in Python,' or 'analyze supplier performance data' give your DSO the detail needed to confirm the role ties to your program.
How does CPT in Supply Chain Analytics support my path to H-1B sponsorship?
Supply Chain Analytics roles fall under specialty occupation classifications, meaning H-1B visa sponsorship is a realistic post-graduation path for students who perform well during CPT. Employers who host CPT students often convert them to full-time hires and initiate OPT and later H-1B filings. CPT also builds the domain experience that strengthens specialty occupation documentation if USCIS issues a Request for Evidence on your H-1B visa petition.
