CPT Data Architect Jobs
Data Architect roles on CPT require your school to certify the position directly integrates with your degree program, so your DSO authorization letter must name the role and employer before you start. Most programs authorize CPT for database design, cloud architecture, and enterprise data modeling work tied to coursework in data engineering or computer science.

Get Access To All JobsData Architect CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Data Architect role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if your school's curriculum includes coursework in data engineering, database systems, cloud architecture, or enterprise information management, a Data Architect role is typically approvable for CPT. Your DSO will assess whether the specific duties, such as designing data models, building ETL pipelines, or managing cloud data warehouses, integrate directly with your academic program.
Can I do CPT part-time as a Data Architect while finishing coursework?
Part-time CPT, defined as 20 hours per week or fewer, is available without affecting your OPT eligibility. Full-time CPT of 12 months or more eliminates your OPT benefit entirely. Most students working as Data Architects during the school year choose part-time authorization to preserve their post-graduation OPT window.
How do I find Data Architect employers who accept CPT students?
Search Migrate Mate for Data Architect roles filtered to employers with documented visa filing history in technical occupations. Employers already familiar with Labor Condition Application filings and international student work authorization are more likely to have an onboarding process that handles CPT documentation without delays or last-minute offer rescissions.
What job duties must my CPT authorization letter specify for this role?
Your DSO authorization letter should list the specific technical duties, not just the title. For Data Architect roles, that means naming tasks like dimensional data modeling, cloud schema design, data governance framework implementation, or ETL architecture work. Generic language like 'data work' may not satisfy your school's CPT curriculum integration requirement and could create issues at I-9 verification.
Does CPT work as a Data Architect count toward H-1B specialty occupation evidence?
It can. CPT experience in a role requiring a specific degree field, which Data Architect typically does under computer science or information systems, helps establish the specialty occupation connection for a future H-1B petition. Keep your offer letter, job description, and any performance documentation. USCIS may request this when evaluating whether your prior work matches the petitioned position's degree requirement.
