Qualcomm is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Engineer to join the DDR Customer Engineering (CE) Software team supporting next-generation mobile, compute, automotive, and edge AI platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for software enablement, platform bring-up, system validation, performance optimization, and customer support for advanced DDR memory subsystems.
You will serve as a technical interface between Qualcomm engineering teams and customers, helping drive successful commercialization of industry-leading SoCs. This role requires strong expertise in system software, DDR architecture, debugging, and performance analysis, as well as the ability to collaborate across hardware and software organizations to resolve complex technical challenges.
The ideal candidate is passionate about solving difficult system-level problems, thrives in cross-functional environments, and enjoys working directly with customers to deliver high-quality solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
- 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with debugging techniques.
Responsibilities
- Support DDR enablement and platform bring-up across firmware, bootloaders, and operating system environments.
- Investigate and resolve complex DDR-related issues including memory corruption, training failures, configuration issues, system crashes, and long-term stability concerns.
- Perform root cause analysis of memory subsystem behaviors involving DDR controllers, cache coherency mechanisms, and system-level interactions.
- Collaborate with customers, OEMs, and ODMs to support memory configuration, tuning, issue triage, and technical escalations.
- Partner closely with DDR design, firmware, validation, systems, and software teams to drive issue resolution across hardware and software boundaries.
- Analyze and optimize DDR performance, memory bandwidth utilization, latency, power consumption, retention behavior, and overall system efficiency.
- Develop and leverage debug methodologies, automation tools, and validation frameworks to improve productivity and quality.
- Support customer engagements and contribute to the successful deployment of Qualcomm products across diverse market segments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of software engineering experience, OR Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, OR PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience programming in C/C++.
- Experience developing, debugging, and optimizing software in Linux or embedded system environments.
- Experience analyzing and debugging complex software and system-level issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of DDR/DRAM architectures and JEDEC memory standards, including DDR5 and emerging memory technologies.
- Experience with firmware, bootloaders, platform initialization, BSP development, or kernel bring-up activities.
- Knowledge of operating system memory management concepts, particularly within Linux, Android, or QNX environments.
- Experience debugging cache coherency, memory virtualization, and memory subsystem interactions in complex SoCs.
- Understanding of large-scale system architectures, edge computing platforms, or high-performance compute environments.
- Experience analyzing memory bandwidth, latency, and CPU-memory interactions using performance profiling and diagnostic tools.
- Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for automation, validation, and debug workflows.
- Experience with kernel debugging, crash dump analysis, and system software troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with long-duration stability testing, stress validation, and investigation of intermittent or low-frequency system failures.
- Experience working with multi-core, heterogeneous computing, or high-concurrency software environments.
- Familiarity with Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms or similar SoC architectures.
- Knowledge of DDR validation and debug tools, memory stress testing methodologies, and performance characterization techniques.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits :
$123,900.00 - $185,900.00The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
