Who's Hiring

Cybersecurity Engineer Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a cybersecurity engineer job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's dominant sectors: energy companies along the Energy Corridor, hospital systems in the Texas Medical Center, and financial firms concentrated Downtown and in Greenway Plaza. Hands-on experience with industrial control systems or operational technology gives you a real edge here, since energy and utilities employers prize those skills. Certifications like CISSP or CompTIA Security+ are widely expected by Houston hiring managers across all sectors.
Which companies hire cybersecurity engineers in Houston?
Houston cybersecurity engineer roles are posted by ABB, NOV, and AECOM and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market draws from a wide mix of large energy corporations, major hospital networks, defense contractors, and regional financial institutions, many of which maintain in-house security teams rather than relying entirely on outside vendors.
Are there remote cybersecurity engineer jobs in Houston?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role. Analytical and governance-focused work, such as threat intelligence, compliance, and security architecture, is far more remote-friendly than hands-on positions tied to physical infrastructure or operational technology. About 67% of cybersecurity engineer openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the highest remote share in cloud security and risk management roles rather than on-site network or OT security positions.
How can I get a cybersecurity engineer job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is targeting IT support or network analyst roles at one of the city's large hospital systems, energy companies, or managed security service providers, then transitioning into a junior security analyst position. Houston employers in the Texas Medical Center and along the Energy Corridor regularly hire entry-level candidates who hold a CompTIA Security+ and can demonstrate hands-on lab work or an internship, even if formal work history is limited.
