Job Overview:

The Data Analytics Assistant Director helps lead a team of analysts who extract, analyze, validate, and report data for fiscal and administrative reporting, quality improvement, research, and the detection of waste, fraud, and abuse. The Assistant Director oversees the team's day-to-day functioning, ensuring customer service excellence and high-quality analytics while coaching and overseeing team members' professional development. The Assistant Director will also do analytical work, writing SQL queries to extract data, using SAS, R or Python to analyze data and present data through reports or Tableau dashboards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate with leadership and staff to ensure the smooth management of day-to-day operations. Identifies any obstacles
  and demonstrates problem solving.
• Communicate regularly with external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality customer service. Identifying and
  implementing procedural improvements within the division or unit.
• Work with staff to ensure that time management, performance management, and professional development processes occur
  following requirements and best practices.
• Emphasize professional development of staff by mentoring, coaching, and connecting analysts to strategic opportunities.
• Continuously transform processes to make higher-value use of data holdings. This may involve automating more reporting, becoming more sophisticated in analytics, acquiring new analytic systems, integrating new tools, and making data available to more business units. Lead and provide guidance related to data asset production, data integration, data reporting and/or analytic solution development.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree, preferably from but not limited to a quantitative discipline (statistics, data science, biostatistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, epidemiology, social or behavioral sciences, or business); Experience equivalent to at least five years full-time professional work as an analyst in data science, statistics, quantitative business analysis, or research; and, experience equivalent to at least two years full-time professional work as a supervisor or manager in a data science or analytics capacity.

An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
