Entry Level Data Science Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level data science manager job?
At the entry level, employers look for candidates who can demonstrate analytical thinking, familiarity with data tools like Python or SQL, and some exposure to leading or coordinating a project, even through coursework or an internship. A portfolio showing end-to-end data projects, clear communication of results, and evidence of cross-functional collaboration gives candidates the strongest edge when competing for a first role.
Which companies hire entry level data science managers?
Companies hiring entry level data science managers right now include Information Technology Senior Management Forum, Amazon, and Capital One, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from a mix of tech firms, fast-growing startups, and larger organizations building out their data teams for the first time.
Are there remote entry level data science manager jobs?
Yes, though remote openings are less common at the entry level than in more senior roles. About 27% of entry level data science manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so candidates willing to consider on-site or hybrid positions will have the widest range of opportunities to apply to.
Are these new grad data science manager jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship work or academic projects in place of full-time history, or explicitly invites a portfolio submission. If you are a new grad entering data science management for the first time, these are the postings to focus on.
Which industries hire the most entry level data science managers?
Entry Level data science manager roles concentrate in Education, Retail, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive hiring at this level because they are actively scaling data functions and often bring junior managers in early to grow alongside expanding analytics teams.
