Dental Assistant Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a dental assistant in Georgia?
Georgia requires dental assistants who take dental radiographs to hold a current radiology certification issued or recognized by the Georgia Board of Dentistry. Most candidates complete an accredited dental assisting program at a Georgia technical college, such as those offered through the Technical College System of Georgia, then pass the required radiology exam. No broader state license is mandated beyond the radiology credential, so completing that certification and a formal program positions you well for most Georgia openings.
Which companies hire dental assistants in Georgia?
Employers hiring dental assistants in Georgia right now include Aspen Dental, Heartland Dental, and D4C Dental Brands, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Large dental support organizations operating multi-location practices across the Atlanta metro and secondary Georgia markets tend to post the most consistent volume.
Which Georgia cities have the most dental assistant jobs?
Atlanta, Newnan, and Savannah have the most dental assistant openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates by volume because of its large population base and concentration of DSO group practices, specialty dental offices, and health system-affiliated dental clinics, while Augusta and Savannah generate steady postings driven by regional medical centers and growing suburban practice expansion in those metro corridors.
Are there remote dental assistant jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. Dental assisting is a hands-on chairside role, so the vast majority of positions require on-site presence at a practice or clinic. About 0% of dental assistant openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, and those tend to be administrative or insurance coordination roles rather than clinical assisting work.
How can I get hired as a dental assistant in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a dental assisting program through the Technical College System of Georgia, which includes clinical externships that often convert to job offers. Large DSO groups like Aspen Dental and Heartland Dental, which operate dozens of Georgia locations, regularly hire new graduates and train them on-site. Applying as a dental receptionist or sterilization technician at a multi-chair practice is a proven lateral move, and holding a current Georgia radiology certification gives candidates without experience a concrete edge over those who don't.
Where can I find and apply to dental assistant jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to dental assistant jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings from practices and dental groups across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
