Dental Technician Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a dental technician in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license to work as a dental technician, so the path to employment runs through education and voluntary credentialing. Completing an accredited dental technology program at a Pennsylvania community college or vocational school is the standard entry point. Many employers prefer candidates who hold or are pursuing the Certified Dental Technician credential issued by the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology, which is recognized widely across Pennsylvania.
Which companies hire dental technicians in Pennsylvania?
Companies currently hiring dental technicians in Pennsylvania include Aspen Dental, Xpert Dental Lab, and Dental Ceramic Arts, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's mix of large hospital-affiliated dental departments, independent dental laboratories, and major laboratory networks like Dentsply Sirona gives dental technicians a range of employer types to consider across the state.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most dental technician jobs?
Newtown, Lansdale, and Lancaster are the Pennsylvania cities with the most dental technician openings. Philadelphia leads because of its dense concentration of dental schools, hospital systems such as Penn Medicine and Jefferson Health, and large commercial dental laboratories, while Pittsburgh's strength comes from UPMC-affiliated facilities and regional lab networks, and Allentown reflects the growing Lehigh Valley healthcare corridor anchored by Lehigh Valley Health Network.
Are there remote dental technician jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're rare. Dental technology is fundamentally hands-on work involving physical materials, precision equipment, and direct fabrication, so most roles require on-site presence in a laboratory. About 0% of dental technician openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to be in digital case management, CAD design review, or quality oversight rather than physical fabrication.
How can I get hired as a dental technician in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a dental laboratory assistant or technician trainee role at a commercial dental laboratory in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, where larger operations regularly bring on candidates from accredited programs even without independent work history. UPMC and Penn Medicine dental departments occasionally offer structured new-graduate orientations for technical roles. Completing the dental technology program at a Pennsylvania community college and beginning your National Board for Certification coursework signals readiness to employers evaluating candidates with no direct lab experience.
Where can I find and apply to dental technician jobs in Pennsylvania?
