Design Engineer Jobs in Denver: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a design engineer job in Denver?
The strongest path into Denver's design engineer market is targeting its aerospace, energy technology, and defense sectors, which cluster along the I-25 corridor and in suburban hubs like Centennial and Broomfield. Candidates who combine CAD proficiency with systems-level thinking stand out locally. Attending Denver-area engineering meetups and connecting with employers in the Cherry Creek and River North districts also gives a meaningful edge over remote applicants.
Which companies hire design engineers in Denver?
Companies currently hiring design engineers in Denver include Jacobs, Integrated Power Services, and AECOM, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Denver's hiring mix leans toward mid-size aerospace contractors, energy infrastructure firms, and product-focused hardware startups concentrated in the metro's northern and southeastern corridors.
Are there remote design engineer jobs in Denver?
Yes, though remote availability is limited by nature since design engineering often requires hands-on lab access, prototyping facilities, or on-site collaboration. About 62% of design engineer openings tied to Denver are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements more common than fully remote. CAD review, documentation, and simulation work are the tasks most frequently performed off-site by Denver-based design engineers.
How can I get a design engineer job in Denver with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Denver is targeting contract-to-hire roles with aerospace suppliers and energy equipment manufacturers along the I-25 and I-70 corridors, which regularly hire junior designers for drafting and component modeling support. Entry-level titles like associate design engineer or CAD technician open the door, and completing a capstone project tied to Colorado's aerospace or renewable energy industries adds immediate local relevance to an early-career portfolio.
Which industries hire the most design engineers in Denver?
The sectors hiring the most design engineers in Denver are Consulting & Professional Services, Manufacturing, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Denver's position as a regional aerospace and clean-energy hub, anchored by the proximity of federal research facilities and a growing hardware startup scene, drives consistent demand across those sectors.
