Field Technician Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field technician in Colorado?
The path depends on your specialty, but most Colorado field technician roles require a combination of vocational or associate-level training and a relevant certification. HVAC technicians must hold an EPA 608 certification and may pursue a Colorado-recognized journeyman or contractor license through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. Electrically focused roles often require coursework from a Colorado community college or technical school, and many employers prefer candidates who have completed an apprenticeship through a trade union or employer program.
Which companies hire field technicians in Colorado?
Employers hiring field technicians in Colorado right now include EchoStar, Wagner Equipment, and NCR Atleos, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's mix of energy, telecom, and industrial employers means field technician openings are spread across both the Front Range metros and more rural service territories.
Which Colorado cities have the most field technician jobs?
Denver, Colorado Springs, and Commerce City have the most field technician openings in Colorado. Denver dominates because of its concentration of utility headquarters, telecom infrastructure, and commercial construction activity, while Colorado Springs and Fort Collins generate strong demand through military installations, manufacturing facilities, and rapidly expanding residential and commercial development.
Are there remote field technician jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're rare. Field technician work is inherently hands-on and site-based, so most roles require a physical presence. About 13% of field technician openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to be in technical support, remote monitoring, or coordination roles rather than active installation or repair work.
How can I get hired as a field technician in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an apprenticeship or entry-level installer role with a Colorado utility or telecom employer. Xcel Energy and Lumen Technologies both hire field service trainees and technician assistants who receive on-the-job training. Community colleges like Emily Griffith Technical College in Denver and Pickens Technical College in Aurora offer short-term certificates in electronics and HVAC that give candidates a competitive edge. Candidates transitioning from warehouse, construction, or automotive repair backgrounds are common hires for lower-entry field tech positions.
Where can I find and apply to field technician jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to field technician jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings across specialties and experience levels. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
