Developer Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a developer job in Philadelphia?
Focus your search on Philadelphia's strongest hiring sectors: health systems, insurance and financial services, and the growing University City tech corridor anchored by university spinouts and biotech firms. Roles concentrate in Center City, University City, and the Navy Yard campus. Candidates who can demonstrate experience with healthcare data standards or fintech integrations have a clear edge in this market, as those specialties align directly with Philadelphia's dominant employer base.
Which companies hire developers in Philadelphia?
Philadelphia developer roles are posted by Amyx, Esri, and AVEVA and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local market mixes large health systems and insurers with mid-size financial services firms and an expanding cluster of technology startups along the Market Street corridor.
Are there remote developer jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, though availability depends on the role type. Developer work is generally well-suited to remote and hybrid arrangements when it does not require on-site hardware access or embedded team collaboration. About 59% of developer openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. Application development and data engineering roles tend to offer the most remote flexibility among Philadelphia postings.
How can I get a developer job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is targeting junior or associate roles at the city's large health systems and insurance carriers, which run structured onboarding programs and hire developers at scale. Community College of Philadelphia and Drexel University's co-op program also place early-career candidates with local employers. Building a portfolio that includes a healthcare or financial data project makes a visible difference when competing for entry-level roles in Philadelphia's primary hiring sectors.
