- Advise on architectural decisions by surfacing tradeoffs, risks, and implementation constraints for the Director of Digital Transformation to decide
- Develop and support AI-enabled features in internal applications, including LLM API integration, structured outputs, and prompt and version management

- Experience with MCP server development, or comparable tool and function-calling integration work, preferred
- Experience building automated test suites or evaluation harnesses for systems with non-deterministic output preferred
- Experience in the AEC industry or another project-based professional services business preferred
- Strong C# and .NET Core development skills; Python or TypeScript for integration and tooling work

- Microsoft Entra ID application registrations, app roles, scopes, consent, and the implications of Conditional Access policies
- SQL Server and relational data modeling, including comfort assessing query performance
- Azure services relevant to hosting integration workloads, such as App Service, Functions, Key Vault, API Management, and Application Insights

Platform Engineer Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a platform engineer in Pennsylvania?
Platform engineering has no state-issued license in Pennsylvania, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical skills. Most Pennsylvania employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or software engineering from an accredited program, such as those at Penn State, Carnegie Mellon, or Drexel. Candidates strengthen their candidacy with certifications from AWS, Google Cloud, or the Linux Foundation, combined with a portfolio showing real infrastructure or DevOps work.
Which companies hire platform engineers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring platform engineers in Pennsylvania right now include BNY, Speechify, and Smith+Nephew, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of healthcare systems, defense contractors, and financial services firms means platform engineering demand is spread across multiple industries rather than tied to a single sector.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most platform engineer jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania have the most platform engineer openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia drives the largest share, anchored by its financial services firms, health systems, and Comcast's national headquarters, while Pittsburgh's strength in robotics, AI research, and UPMC's technology arm generates consistent demand, and suburban Lehigh Valley openings reflect defense and manufacturing employers like Air Products and B. Braun.
Are there remote platform engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 70% of platform engineer openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how central this role is to cloud-first and distributed engineering teams. The work most commonly done fully remote includes pipeline development, infrastructure-as-code authoring, and cloud architecture, while on-site expectations are more common for roles tied to regulated industries like defense or healthcare data centers.
How can I get hired as a platform engineer in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a DevOps or site reliability engineer associate role, which large Pennsylvania employers like UPMC Technology Development Center and Comcast Technology Solutions open to candidates with strong fundamentals and project portfolios. Completing a relevant AWS or Google Cloud certification and contributing to open-source infrastructure projects gives candidates a concrete edge. Adjacent roles in systems administration, network operations, or software QA at Pennsylvania tech firms or university IT departments are common stepping stones into platform engineering.
Where can I find and apply to platform engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to platform engineer jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
