Development Manager Jobs in Detroit: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a development manager job in Detroit?
The strongest path into a development manager role in Detroit runs through the city's three dominant sectors: automotive and mobility technology, healthcare, and commercial real estate. Candidates who can show cross-functional team leadership and project delivery experience specific to one of these industries stand out. Building connections through Detroit's Midtown tech corridor and Downtown development community opens doors that general applications often miss.
Which companies hire development managers in Detroit?
Detroit development manager roles are posted by StockX, Savino Del Bene, and DHL and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The mix reflects Detroit's blend of legacy automotive giants, regional health systems, and a growing base of development and construction firms tied to the city's ongoing urban revitalization.
Are there remote development manager jobs in Detroit?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the specialization. About 27% of development manager openings tied to Detroit are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the higher end of that range found in software and product-focused roles. Positions tied to physical development, construction, or on-site operations in Detroit typically require in-person presence in the city.
How can I get a development manager job in Detroit with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Detroit is moving into a development coordinator or project coordinator role at one of the city's health systems, automotive suppliers, or commercial real estate firms, then building toward a manager title. Detroit's community development organizations and nonprofit housing developers also hire junior development staff and promote from within. Demonstrating familiarity with Detroit's specific development landscape, whether in mobility tech, urban revitalization, or healthcare infrastructure, gives early-career candidates a concrete edge over generalists.
Which industries hire the most development managers in Detroit?
Most development manager openings in Detroit sit in Retail, Staffing & Recruiting, and Transportation & Logistics, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Detroit's position as the center of North American automotive innovation, combined with major health system campuses in Midtown and a sustained wave of Downtown commercial redevelopment, keeps demand across all three sectors consistently active.
