NMC Health is seeking a Development Operations Manager to support the Executive Director of Development and lead the systems, communications, and fundraising efforts that advance our mission and strengthen healthcare in our community.
The Development Operations Manager is responsible for grants management, annual giving initiatives, employee giving programs, donor communications, special event strategy and execution, and stewardship processes. This role plays a vital part in creating a positive donor experience, maintaining efficient development operations, and building a sustainable pipeline for future major gifts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Grants & Institutional Funding
- Research, write, and manage grant proposals and reports.
- Identify grant opportunities that align with organizational priorities.
- Track grant deadlines, requirements, deliverables, and outcomes.
- Maintain accurate grant records and reporting documentation.
Annual Giving & Community Engagement
- Plan and execute annual giving campaigns, direct mail initiatives, and digital fundraising appeals.
- Develop strategies to increase donor participation, retention, and engagement.
- Support employee giving campaigns and philanthropic initiatives.
- Strengthen community engagement through outreach efforts and partnership opportunities.
Event Strategy & Management
- Plan, coordinate, and execute donor, fundraising, and community events.
- Manage event timelines, logistics, budgets, vendors, and volunteer coordination.
- Collaborate with leadership and community partners to maximize participation and engagement.
- Evaluate event effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
Donor Communications & Stewardship
- Develop donor communications, including appeals, newsletters, impact reports, and recognition materials.
- Ensure timely and meaningful donor acknowledgments and stewardship activities.
- Coordinate stewardship plans for donors at all giving levels.
- Support storytelling initiatives that highlight organizational impact and community connection.
Operations & Systems Management
- Manage donor database systems and gift processing activities.
- Maintain accurate donor records and communication histories.
- Track donor activity, campaign performance, and fundraising pipeline movement.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
Campaign & Major Gift Support
- Conduct donor and prospect research.
- Prepare briefing materials and supporting documentation for donor meetings and visits.
- Coordinate logistics and administrative support for fundraising campaigns and major gift initiatives.
- Assist leadership in cultivating and stewarding donor relationships.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and nonprofit fundraising experience may be considered.
Experience
- Three to five (3–5) years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, donor relations, communications, community engagement, or a related field.
- Experience in healthcare philanthropy, nonprofit fundraising, or community engagement strongly preferred.
- Experience with grant writing and donor management systems preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, donor stewardship, and philanthropic best practices.
- Familiarity with grant coordination, annual giving, donor communications, and event planning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create donor-facing materials and professional correspondence.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail in gift processing, donor records, budgeting, and reporting.
- Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and identify trends to support fundraising strategy.
- Proficiency with donor management software, spreadsheets, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong relationship-building skills with donors, volunteers, community partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Basic understanding of budgeting, operational workflows, and process improvement methodologies.
