INTRODUCTION
The New Mexico Economic Development Department (NMEDD) works to enhance the state's economic growth and vitality by supporting businesses, communities, and individuals throughout New Mexico. NMEDD's mission is to create a diverse, sustainable economy through strategic partnerships, policies, and programs that foster job creation and business development.
The position will be within the Community, Business, and Rural Development team. It focuses on providing resources and support to communities, businesses, and rural areas to help them thrive. This team works on initiatives aimed at promoting economic opportunities, improving infrastructure, and supporting rural development projects that create lasting impact across New Mexico.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
PURPOSE:
This role supports the daily administration of the Site Readiness and Tradeports Programs, utility pre-deployment, and other economic development infrastructure, ensuring proper use of funds and compliance with laws and policies. It provides technical assistance to the applicants and works closely with internal teams and external partners, such as local governments, developers, and economic development organizations to support program success.
Responsibilities:
- Compile applications and coordinate review with leadership, with occasional in-state travel.
- Support board activities by organizing meetings, managing materials, facilitating Advisory Committee meetings, and keeping minutes per the Open Meetings Act.
1. Program Support and Technical Assistance: Manage daily support for the Site Readiness and Tradeports Programs.
2. Board Management: Support board activities, including scheduling, distributing materials, running virtual meetings, and recording minutes.
3. Fiscal Administration: Support execution of agreements, track and reconcile expenditures in the state system (SHARE), and manage travel/per diem reimbursements.
4. Marketing and Outreach: Create and share promotional materials, hold public meetings, maintain program statistics, update NMEDD's site readiness website.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and one (1) year of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Must maintain a current drivers license.
- Must obtain a state of New Mexico defensive driving certificate.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
Occasional in-state travel may be required.
