In this role, you will:
Design and implement robust cloud native architectures on AWS that enhance availability resilience and scalability for complex enterprise applications in alignment with site reliability engineering principles
Define and standardize SRE practices including error budgets service level objectives and operational readiness criteria to ensure measurable reliability improvements across critical services
Develop and maintain automated delivery pipelines using modern DevOps tooling to streamline software integration testing and deployment while reducing manual effort and deployment risk
Create and optimize infrastructure as code solutions using AWS native capabilities and industry standard tools to ensure repeatable auditable and secure environment provisioning
Establish observability strategies by defining logging metrics tracing and alerting patterns that enable proactive detection of issues and faster mean time to recovery
Collaborate with platform and application teams to design runbooks playbooks and operational workflows that simplify incident response and reduce operational toil for reliability engineers
Architect secure DevSecOps practices by integrating security scanning policy checks and compliance automation into continuous integration and delivery workflows for all AWS hosted workloads
Partner with security and risk stakeholders to interpret compliance requirements and translate them into practical guardrails controls and patterns embedded into cloud platform designs
Guide teams in adopting cost efficient AWS architectures by analyzing usage patterns recommending right sized solutions and promoting automation that optimizes infrastructure spend
Coordinate with product and engineering teams to evaluate new services in AWS and emerging DevOps tools to determine their fit for platform roadmap and long term reliability goals
Drive root cause analysis for high impact incidents by facilitating technical discussions documenting findings and defining corrective actions that prevent recurrence across similar services
Prepare technical reference architectures patterns and best practice documentation that enable consistent adoption of SRE DevOps and
DevSecOps capabilities across multiple programs
Mentor engineering teams in reliability mindset automation first culture and secure development practices to ensure sustainable ownership of platforms and services

Location : Charlotte - NC

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Charlotte, NC. What you need to have to be considered:
Possess extensive hands on experience designing and operating solutions on AWS platform including core compute networking storage and managed services for large scale environments
Demonstrate deep practical expertise in SRE concepts such as service level objectives error budgets reliability risk assessment and production readiness reviews for critical systems
Exhibit strong experience with modern DevOps tools covering source control build automation artifact management configuration management and continuous delivery pipelines in enterprise settings
Show proven background implementing DevSecOps practices including code analysis dependency scanning container security and policy enforcement integrated into build and release workflows
Apply solid understanding of infrastructure as code tooling and automation patterns to create reusable secure and modular components that support multi environment deployment strategies
Display proficiency in monitoring logging and observability ecosystems that provide actionable insights for performance tuning capacity planning and incident response in distributed systems
Demonstrate strong communication and stakeholder management skills to collaborate effectively with engineering security operations and business partners in a hybrid work model focused on shared outcomes

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until 8/30/2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $64K – $117K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
