DevOps Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a devops job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's dominant hiring sectors: energy and oilfield services, large health systems, and aerospace and defense contractors. The Energy Corridor and Greenway Plaza are the densest clusters for devops openings. Candidates who stand out locally tend to combine cloud platform experience with familiarity in industrial or regulated environments, since Houston employers often run hybrid on-premise and cloud infrastructure at scale.
Which companies hire devopss in Houston?
Houston devops roles are posted by Chevron, Google, and Deloitte and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's employer mix is broad, ranging from global energy majors and hospital networks to NASA contractors and regional fintech firms, so devops demand shows up across a wide variety of company sizes and industries.
Are there remote devops jobs in Houston?
Yes, though availability varies by specialization. DevOps work that is cloud-native, CI/CD pipeline focused, or platform engineering tends to be remote-friendly, while roles tied to on-premise infrastructure or regulated industrial systems often require an on-site presence. About 33% of devops openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with the highest remote share concentrated in software and fintech employers rather than energy or healthcare.
How can I get a devops job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is targeting junior site reliability engineer or cloud operations associate roles at mid-size technology companies or healthcare IT departments, which hire more entry-level candidates than large energy firms. Houston Community College and local bootcamps feed candidates into these pipelines. Earning a cloud certification, contributing to open-source projects, and building a portfolio on GitHub gives entry-level applicants a concrete edge when applying locally.
Which industries hire the most devopss in Houston?
The sectors hiring the most devopss in Houston are Energy, Technology & Software, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's outsized energy industry drives consistent demand for devops roles supporting large-scale data pipelines and operational technology, while the Texas Medical Center's concentration of hospital systems and research institutions makes healthcare a major secondary employer.
