Digital Designer Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a digital designer in Nebraska?
Digital design is not a state-licensed profession in Nebraska, so there is no state board exam or registration required. Most Nebraska employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or digital media from programs at institutions like the University of Nebraska-Lincoln or Creighton University. A strong portfolio demonstrating UX, branding, and digital production work carries the most weight in Nebraska hiring decisions.
How much do digital designers make in Nebraska?
Digital designers in Nebraska earn a median of about $56,700 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,440 for the lowest 10% to over $78,840 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire digital designers in Nebraska?
Companies currently hiring digital designers in Nebraska include HDR, University of Nebraska, and CVS Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of financial services headquarters, regional health systems, and growing technology firms in Omaha and Lincoln creates consistent demand for in-house digital design talent.
Which Nebraska cities have the most digital designer jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Nebraska have the most digital designer openings in Nebraska. Omaha dominates because it anchors the state's largest corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and health systems, while Lincoln's university community and state government agencies drive additional hiring, and Bellevue benefits from proximity to Offutt Air Force Base and the Omaha metro employer base.
Are there remote digital designer jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, and more than most fields. Digital design is inherently screen-based work, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 20% of digital designer openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted flexible setups for this role. UX/UI and motion graphics positions tend to be the most remote-friendly, while brand and print production roles are more likely to require occasional on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a digital designer in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a focused portfolio through freelance projects, student work, or volunteer design for local Nebraska nonprofits and small businesses, then applying to junior or associate designer roles at Omaha and Lincoln agencies or in-house marketing teams. Nebraska health systems and financial firms like Mutual of Omaha occasionally post entry-level design coordinator or marketing associate roles that serve as lateral entry points. Completing a recognized UX or graphic design certificate and presenting polished case studies gives candidates a concrete edge over applicants with credentials alone.
