Entry Level Director Medical Writing Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level director medical writing job?
Start by building a portfolio of sample clinical summaries, regulatory documents, or patient-facing content, even from coursework or volunteer work. Employers hiring at this level look for clear scientific writing, attention to detail, and familiarity with style guides like AMA. A science or health-related degree helps, and any internship or co-op experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO setting gives you a real edge over other entry level candidates.
Which companies hire entry level director medical writings?
Companies hiring entry level director medical writings right now include Florida International University, Springfield College, and Westudy Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of large pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, medical communications agencies, and healthcare technology firms that regularly onboard junior writers to support growing regulatory and clinical teams.
Are there remote entry level director medical writing jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid options are common in this field. About 4% of entry level director medical writing openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how document-heavy work in medical writing translates well to distributed teams. Entry level candidates should confirm expectations around collaboration tools and revision turnaround times when evaluating remote postings.
Are these new grad director medical writing jobs?
Yes, many of these postings are new grad friendly, including roles aimed at recent graduates and junior candidates just entering the field. A new grad director medical writing role typically welcomes applicants with zero to two years of experience, accepts internship work or academic projects as qualifying experience, and values a writing portfolio over an extensive employment history. Look for postings that mention training programs or mentorship as signals of a new-grad environment.
Which industries hire the most entry level director medical writings?
Entry Level director medical writing roles concentrate in Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they produce high volumes of regulatory submissions, clinical study reports, and patient education materials that require skilled writers who can be trained on company-specific processes from the start of their careers.
