We are looking for an Accounting Manager who can take ownership of client relationships, review monthly accounting work, lead bookkeepers, communicate clearly with clients, and help business owners receive accurate, timely financial information.

Position Summary
The Accounting Manager will oversee a group of monthly accounting clients and supervise the work of assigned bookkeepers. This person will be responsible for reviewing monthly financial statements, identifying accounting issues, communicating with clients, managing deadlines, and coordinating with the tax and payroll teams when needed.
This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting knowledge, good judgment, leadership ability, and the desire to work directly with business owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of monthly accounting clients.
- Review monthly bookkeeping work for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness.
- Review balance sheets, profit and loss statements, bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, loan balances, payroll activity, sales tax activity, and unusual transactions.
- Supervise and support assigned bookkeepers.
- Monitor monthly deadlines and make sure client work is completed timely.
- Review and resolve missing-item lists, client questions, uncategorized transactions, and open accounting issues.
- Communicate with clients regarding monthly financial statements, missing information, corrections, and changes in their business.
- Help onboard new monthly clients by confirming scope, accounts, access, deadlines, and recurring workflow.
- Identify tax planning, payroll, sales tax, 1099, cash flow, margin, or entity issues that should be elevated to the tax or partner team.
- Help ensure that client books are ready for tax planning and year-end tax preparation.
- Maintain clear documentation of review notes, client decisions, and follow-up items.
- Help improve internal processes, workflow, and quality control procedures.
- Maintain client confidentiality and ensure sensitive information is handled through secure firm-approved methods.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing both people and client relationships. This person should be able to review work, spot issues, ask good questions, and communicate professionally with clients and team members.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or client accounting experience.
- Prior experience reviewing financial statements and reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, balance sheet accounts, payroll activity, sales tax activity, and month-end close procedures.
- Experience supervising, reviewing, or training accounting staff preferred.
- Strong communication and client service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Microsoft Excel, and general accounting software.
- Ability to work independently while following firm processes and review standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CPA candidate, EA, or advanced accounting experience.
- Public accounting or CPA firm experience.
- Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses.
- Experience with payroll, sales tax, 1099s, fixed assets, and tax return support.
- Experience improving accounting workflows or managing recurring monthly close processes.
