Your job is more than a job.
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for providing daily care of cancer patients, including accurate interpretation and delivery of radiation treatments. Participates in the simulation and treatment of complex treatment fields to achieve optimal treatment plans. Responsible for providing various other radiation therapy procedures.
Day to Day
GENERAL DUTIES
- Administers proper and responsible radiation to patients for radiation therapy. Monitors the patient’s condition regularly while under treatment to look for abnormalities.
- Assists the radiation oncologist in the localization of tumors. Performs all simulations and treatment as ordered.
- Performs simple dose calculations on patients as requested by radiation oncologist. Records all treatments on patient chart as administered.
- Performs daily warmup on equipment, documents and notifies physicist of any equipment out of tolerance and deemed faulty.
- Verifies proper stock of equipment and supplies in treatment rooms in order to avoid treatment delays. Maintains cleanliness of patient care areas.
- Completes and accurately documents safety inspection of equipment and room according to procedure as assigned and notifies appropriate person of any variance.
