Seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to advance the Roosevelt Charter Academy mission and vision by providing high quality Special Education instruction and support.
Roosevelt Charter Academy (RCA) is a K - 5 school located in a traditional Colorado Springs D-11 school building with all the charms of a community school. The mission of RCA is to provide all learners with a caring, collaborative, and challenging educational environment that is wholly dedicated to continuous academic achievement and personal success. Essential Job Responsibilities
- Develops lesson plans, according to acceptable models of teaching, taking into account school policies, state guidelines, school curriculum, philosophy, subject matter requirements, student classroom composition, which accommodate a range of learning styles and specialized needs of students.
- Presents subject matter to students using various instructional techniques.
- Analyzes lesson presentation and anticipates how learning occurs through reflective practices. Identifies curricular skills and concepts when developing and implementing instructional plans. Identifies pupil needs and works with professional staff members in assessing and helping students in all areas of their development.
- Identifies and communicates performance expectations and documents the degree to which the students meet expectations.
- Teaches utilizing curriculum material adopted by the school and appropriate supplemental and teacher-made materials.
- Employs specialized instructional techniques appropriate to the students' learning needs.
- Administers and interprets standardized and informal assessment instruments.
- Demonstrates various teaching techniques that address the multiple intelligences and learning styles.
- Evaluates the success of lessons by determining how students transfer and apply their knowledge base to new information. Utilizes assessment instruments and procedures.
- Uses assessment data to identify student needs and plan appropriate instruction. Implements testing procedures in accordance with school policies and state guidelines.
- Uses current technology for instruction, assessment, and instructional management.
- Applies curriculum integration. Provides learning opportunities that supports student development.
- Anticipates needs and demonstrates efficiency and organization when transitioning from one activity to another.
- Facilitates the development of classroom rules, which establish and maintain a safe and secure environment that is conducive to learning.
- Utilizes strategies for classroom management that emphasize working relationships and cooperation and encourages students to resolve disagreements using problem-solving strategies.
- Creates a learning environment that encourages social interaction, active engagement, and self-motivation.
- Evaluates each student's progress and accurately report and record such progress.
- Maintains all appropriate special education forms, Individual Education Programs (IEP's), and records mandated by regulation and school.
