Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Hearing Officer
Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
Administrative law qualifications from Australian universities are generally recognized, but U.S. hiring panels may not know how your degree maps to their requirements. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before you apply.
Target agencies with active LCA filing histories
Federal and state administrative agencies, workers' compensation boards, and unemployment appeals tribunals are the primary employers of Hearing Officers. Search DOL's public LCA disclosure data to identify agencies that have filed for this role category before.
Clarify specialty occupation status early with your employer
Hearing Officer roles require a specific legal or policy degree, not just any bachelor's degree, so they qualify as specialty occupations under E-3 rules. Confirm your offer letter reflects the degree requirement explicitly before the LCA is filed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to streamline your LCA
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. Public-sector employers unfamiliar with E-3 often need guidance through DOL and consulate steps, which the service covers.
Request a formal job offer before scheduling your consulate appointment
You cannot book your E-3 visa interview without a certified LCA, and the LCA cannot be filed without a bona fide offer. Agencies sometimes issue conditional letters; make sure yours confirms the role title, duties, and wage level.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your interview
Consular officers routinely ask Hearing Officer applicants about ties to Australia, since this role often leads to long-term government careers. Bring documentation of Australian assets, property, or family connections alongside your professional credentials.

Find Hearing Officer JobsHearing Officer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Hearing Officer jobs in the U.S. that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for E-3 sponsorship roles in the U.S. You can filter by job title and see employers who have sponsored similar roles before. Most Hearing Officer positions are with government agencies or quasi-judicial bodies, so targeting those sectors through Migrate Mate narrows your search significantly.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Hearing Officer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes. Hearing Officer positions require a bachelor's degree or higher in law, public administration, or a related field as a standard entry requirement. That degree-specificity satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation definition. Your offer letter should state the degree requirement explicitly, as the DOL will review this during LCA certification.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Hearing Officer roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but it has two major advantages over the H-1B for this role: no lottery and no annual cap. H-1B applicants face a randomized selection process with roughly a 25% chance of being chosen. With the E-3, you apply directly once you have a job offer and certified LCA, with no wait for a selection round.
Can I switch Hearing Officer employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but you need a new LCA and a new E-3 visa stamp or a change of employer filing before you start work with the new agency. The E-3 is employer-specific, so your current approval doesn't transfer automatically. If you're changing roles between government agencies, factor in LCA processing time at the DOL, which typically runs seven business days.
