Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Contract Administrator
Align your degree to the role
Contract Administrator positions must qualify as a specialty occupation. Your Australian bachelor's degree needs to match the role's field, a degree in business, construction management, or law is far stronger than a general arts qualification when the employer files the LCA.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Migrate Mate filters Contract Administrator jobs by E-3 visa sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the process. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you secure an offer.
Request LCA certification before resigning
Your employer must file and receive a certified LCA from the DOL before you can attend your consulate appointment. DOL targets seven business days for LCA certification, but build extra time into your notice period so your start date isn't jeopardized by delays.
Clarify multi-site work with your employer
Contract Administrators often work across multiple client sites or project locations. Each worksite may require a separate LCA posting under DOL rules. Confirm with your employer upfront whether your role involves variable locations so the LCA reflects your actual working arrangement.
Prepare an Australian credential equivalency letter
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes, but consular officers occasionally question this. A credential evaluation from a USCIS-recognized evaluation service strengthens your application if your degree duration is flagged.

Find Contract Administrator JobsContract Administrator E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Contract Administrator jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search, it filters Contract Administrator roles by employers with documented E-3 or LCA sponsorship history, so you're not spending time on companies that will decline to sponsor. Standard job searches rarely surface sponsorship willingness upfront, which makes filtering by filing history essential for Australian applicants.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Contract Administrator role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. The role must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, construction management, contract law, or engineering. Positions where the employer accepts any degree, or no degree at all, risk failing the specialty occupation test during consular review. Job descriptions that specify degree requirements by field are the clearest indicator of eligibility.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Contract Administrator roles?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply whenever you have an offer rather than waiting for a lottery result in April. H-1B selection is random and capped at 85,000 registrations per fiscal year, making it far less predictable for mid-career professionals. For Australian nationals, the E-3 is the more reliable path to a Contract Administrator role in the U.S.
Can I switch employers or projects while on an E-3 as a Contract Administrator?
You can change employers, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new visa stamp if yours lists the previous employer. There's no grace period built into the E-3 for between-job gaps the way some other statuses allow, so time your transition carefully. Short-term contract work also requires careful structuring because each client engagement may technically constitute a new employment arrangement.
