E-3 Visa Physiatrist Jobs
Physiatrist roles in the U.S. qualify as specialty occupations under E-3 visa rules, requiring a medical degree and residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Australian-trained physiatrists can secure E-3 sponsorship without competing in a lottery, making the path to U.S. practice more direct than most physician visa routes.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Physiatrist
Verify your AMC credentials transfer correctly
The DOL requires your medical degree to satisfy the specialty occupation standard. Confirm your Australian Medical Council registration and fellowship credentials map to U.S. physiatry requirements before approaching employers, since credentialing gaps delay LCA filing.
Target rehabilitation hospital systems directly
Inpatient rehabilitation facilities and academic medical centers file E-3 LCAs regularly for specialist physician roles. Search OFLC disclosure data to identify which health systems have certified LCAs for physiatrist positions in your target region.
Negotiate the LCA into your offer timeline
Ask the employer to begin the DOL Labor Condition Application immediately after extending a verbal offer. LCA certification typically takes seven business days, so locking this in early prevents delays between your accepted offer and your consulate appointment.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Physiatry offers often move quickly once credentialing clears. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so your application is ready before your start date window closes.
Prepare your DS-160 with precise employment details
Consular officers assess specialty occupation at the E-3 interview. Your DS-160 job description must reflect physiatry-specific duties, not generic physician language. Vague descriptions are a common reason for additional questioning at Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth consulates.
Address ECFMG certification before the visa interview
U.S. hospitals credentialing foreign-trained physicians require Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates certification. Confirm your ECFMG status is active and matches your passport name before your consulate appointment to avoid delays in hospital privileging after arrival.

Find Physiatrist JobsPhysiatrist E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Physiatrist jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point. It surfaces Physiatrist roles at employers with active E-3 and LCA filing history, so you can filter to positions where sponsorship is already established practice rather than a negotiation you initiate from scratch. This saves significant time during your job search.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does the E-3 visa work better than the H-1B for Australian physiatrists?
Yes, in most cases. The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been exhausted, so there is no lottery. H-1B requires registration in a random selection process each April with no guarantee of being chosen. For an Australian physiatrist with a qualifying job offer, the E-3 provides a direct, predictable path to starting work.
Does physiatry qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3 purposes?
Physiatry qualifies clearly. USCIS defines specialty occupation as a role requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Physiatry requires a medical degree plus residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation, which exceeds the standard threshold. Australian medical degrees and RACP fellowship credentials are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. requirements.
Can I switch physiatrist employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL before you begin working. Unlike some visa categories, the E-3 does not have portability provisions that let you transfer automatically. You will need a new certified LCA and an updated visa if your current stamp has expired, which requires returning to a U.S. consulate in Australia or a third country.
