Translate your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree for E-3 visa purposes, but your employer's immigration counsel will need documentation. Have your transcripts and degree certificates ready to support the specialty occupation determination.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
Hospital systems, health consultancies, and payers that have filed Labor Condition Applications before understand the E-3 process. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data to identify which healthcare organizations have sponsored consulting roles in your target city.
Clarify your consulting scope during offer negotiations
Healthcare Consultant is a broad title. The LCA and DS-160 both require a specific job description tied to your degree field. Nail down whether your role is clinical advisory, health IT, strategy, or payer operations before your employer files, since a vague scope invites consular pushback.
Handle the LCA and consulate prep through Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service
The E-3 process requires a certified LCA from DOL before your consulate appointment. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to manage the LCA filing, visa paperwork, and consulate preparation end-to-end so nothing stalls your start date.
Confirm your degree field maps to the posted role
Consular officers assess whether your specific degree supports the Healthcare Consultant position. A public health degree supports population health consulting; a nursing degree supports clinical workflow roles. If your degree field and the job description don't align clearly, address that gap proactively in your supporting documentation.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at your interview
Healthcare consulting attracts long-term U.S. career paths, which can raise consular scrutiny on immigrant intent. Be ready to explain your ties to Australia and the finite nature of your engagement, even if your role is open-ended.
E-3 Visa Healthcare Consultant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Healthcare Consultant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. It filters listings to employers who understand the E-3 process, so you're not wasting applications on companies unfamiliar with Australian visa requirements. Healthcare Consultant roles appear across hospital systems, health tech firms, and management consultancies with healthcare practices.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Healthcare Consultant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as health administration, public health, nursing, or a related discipline. Generalist roles where any degree suffices can fail the specialty occupation test. Your job offer letter and the LCA must both describe duties that are directly tied to that degree requirement, not just a preference for one.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Healthcare Consultant roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and has no lottery, no annual cap backlog, and no employer petition required beyond the LCA. H-1B visa applicants face a random lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate in recent years. For an Australian Healthcare Consultant with a qualifying job offer, the E-3 is a direct path that the H-1B cannot reliably replicate.
Can I switch consulting firms while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need to return to a U.S. consulate for a new E-3 stamp. The E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't simply transfer it. If you're changing firms, start the LCA process before your final day at your current employer to avoid a gap in authorized status.
