Translate your CPA credentials for U.S. employers
Australian CPA or CA qualifications are recognized by U.S. employers but aren't identical to a U.S. CPA license. Frame your credentials clearly on your resume so hiring managers understand your standing without needing to research Australian accounting bodies themselves.
Target employers with dedicated accounting functions
Mid-size and enterprise companies with standalone finance teams file E-3 visa LCAs far more readily than startups where a single generalist handles all finance tasks. Roles titled Revenue Accountant, not Finance Generalist, signal the specialty occupation threshold is easier to meet.
Confirm your role meets specialty occupation requirements
Revenue Accountant positions must require a specific bachelor's degree to qualify for E-3 status. If a job posting says a degree is preferred rather than required, that distinction can complicate your LCA. Raise this with your employer before they file with DOL.
Get your LCA and visa paperwork handled end-to-end
The LCA must be DOL-certified before your consulate appointment can proceed. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so nothing stalls between your signed offer and your interview date.
Clarify E-3 status before your background check stage
Many employers only learn they need to file an LCA after extending an offer. Bring up your E-3 requirements early in the process, ideally after a verbal offer but before the formal written stage, so their HR or legal team has time to prepare without delaying your start date.
Use your Australian experience to address dual-intent concerns
E-3 is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers assess your ties to Australia. Documenting your professional history, superannuation account, and property or family connections in Australia strengthens your case that your U.S. role is a temporary career move.
E-3 Visa Revenue Accountant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Revenue Accountant jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Revenue Accountant roles from employers with active E-3 and LCA filing history, so you're not applying to companies that have never sponsored an Australian professional. Filtering by role and visa type saves significant time compared to unfiltered job searches where sponsorship willingness is unclear.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Revenue Accountant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. The DOL evaluates the job description when certifying the LCA, not just the title. If the role's duties are broad enough that any business degree would satisfy the employer, an officer could question whether specialty occupation standards are met.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Revenue Accountant roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but within that group it has a significant structural advantage: there's no lottery and no annual cap, so approval depends entirely on your qualifications and your employer's LCA, not random selection. H-1B visa registrations for accounting roles face the same 25-30% selection odds as every other category, making the E-3 a far more predictable path for Australians.
Can I change employers while on an E-3 as a Revenue Accountant?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp if you travel internationally before starting the new role. The E-3 is employer-specific, so your authorization is tied to the petitioning company. Build in enough lead time before your intended start date for the LCA certification process, which DOL typically completes within seven business days.
