Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Finance Assistant
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
Your Australian bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration directly supports E-3 visa eligibility. A three-year Australian degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but bring your academic transcripts to any employer conversation to confirm the field match upfront.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
Search DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to find companies that have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for finance roles. Employers already familiar with the LCA process move faster and are less likely to back out over sponsorship uncertainty.
Reframe sponsorship as a straightforward employer step
Many U.S. hiring managers assume the E-3 is as complex as the H-1B lottery. Clarify that the employer's role is filing an LCA with DOL, not entering a lottery. Finance teams at mid-size companies often respond well once they understand the process takes days, not months.
Get your LCA filed before accepting a start date
DOL must certify the LCA before you can attend your consulate appointment. Build at least two to three weeks into your start date negotiation to account for LCA processing. Agreeing to a start date before the LCA is certified is one of the most common delays finance candidates face.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles your LCA filing, visa paperwork, and consulate preparation end-to-end. This matters most for Finance Assistant roles where you're coordinating between a new employer's HR team and USCIS requirements simultaneously under a tight start date.
Prepare your employment verification documents early
Consular officers reviewing Finance Assistant applications will want to see your offer letter, degree transcripts, and the certified LCA. Assemble these before your interview date. Gaps in documentation, particularly around your degree field and job duties, are the most common cause of administrative processing delays.
E-3 Visa Finance Assistant: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Finance Assistant jobs in the U.S. that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Finance Assistant roles at employers with E-3 and LCA filing history, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with Australian visa sponsorship. Filter by role and location to find positions where the employer already understands the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Finance Assistant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as accounting, finance, or business administration. If the job description accepts any degree or treats the degree as preferred rather than required, it may not meet the specialty occupation standard. Review the job duties carefully before applying and ask the employer to confirm the degree requirement in your offer letter.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Finance Assistant roles?
The E-3 has a significant practical advantage for Australian professionals in finance. There's no lottery, no annual registration window, and the 10,500 annual allocation has never been exhausted. You can apply year-round as soon as you have a job offer and a certified LCA. The H-1B requires entering a lottery in March for an October start date, which means finance candidates face an eight-month gap even after receiving an offer.
Can I change Finance Assistant employers after I'm in the U.S. on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but the process starts fresh with each new employer. Your new employer must file a new LCA with DOL and you'll need to either apply for a new E-3 visa at a consulate or change your status through USCIS if you're already in the U.S. You can begin working for the new employer once the new LCA is certified and your visa or status reflects the change.
