E-3 Visa Tax Accountant Jobs
Tax Accountant roles qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Australian CPAs and tax professionals face no lottery and no annual cap, making it straightforward to negotiate sponsorship with U.S. employers who have never filed an E-3 before.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Tax Accountant
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
Australian three-year accounting degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees, but having a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency gives employers written confirmation and removes a common objection during the offer stage.
Target employers with active LCA filings
Public accounting firms, corporate finance teams, and Big Four offices regularly file Labor Condition Applications for specialty occupation roles. Searching DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data by SOC code 13-2011 shows which employers have sponsored tax roles before.
Clarify CPA licensing requirements upfront
U.S. CPA licensure is state-specific and not required to work as a Tax Accountant on an E-3, but some employers list it as a requirement. Ask during screening whether it's a genuine prerequisite or a preference, since your Australian CPA registration won't transfer directly.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA
The LCA is the step most employers are unfamiliar with, and a delayed DOL certification can push back your start date. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so the employer isn't navigating the process alone.
Time your application around the tax season cycle
Accounting firms do most of their hiring between July and October for roles starting before the following January. Initiating E-3 sponsorship conversations during this window means your employer has budget approval and a firm start date, both of which the LCA requires.
Confirm your offer letter covers E-3 wage requirements
The LCA requires your offered salary to meet the DOL prevailing wage for Tax Accountants in the specific metro area where you'll work. Check that your offer letter specifies the work location and job title before your employer submits the LCA to avoid a certification delay.

Find Tax Accountant JobsTax Accountant E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Tax Accountant jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that qualify for E-3 sponsorship. Unlike general job boards, it filters for employers who have sponsored E-3 or similar specialty occupation visas, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never navigated the process. Tax Accountant roles in public accounting, corporate tax, and financial services are well represented.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Tax Accountant role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes. Tax Accountant positions typically meet the specialty occupation standard because they normally require at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. USCIS assesses the specific job duties, not just the title, so roles involving tax compliance, planning, or advisory work with a direct link to accounting qualifications are straightforward to support.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Tax Accountants?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been exhausted, so there's no lottery and no random selection risk. The H-1B involves a March lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate for standard cap registrations. For an Australian Tax Accountant, the E-3 is the faster and more predictable path, and employers with no prior sponsorship history find it significantly simpler to file.
What happens to my E-3 status if I change employers?
The E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't port it to a new employer the way some other visa categories allow. Your new employer needs to file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp if yours has expired. If your current visa stamp is still valid, you can start with the new employer once the LCA is certified and the new employer has the paperwork in order.
