Educational Audiologist Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a educational audiologist in Pennsylvania?
Becoming an educational audiologist in Pennsylvania requires completing a doctoral-level Au.D. program and then obtaining a license through the Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners in Speech-Language and Hearing. The board requires proof of degree completion, supervised clinical hours, and passage of the Praxis Audiology exam. Most school district positions also expect the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology, and candidates working directly with students under an IEP may need to meet additional Pennsylvania Department of Education criteria for related service providers.
Which companies hire educational audiologists in Pennsylvania?
Companies currently hiring educational audiologists in Pennsylvania include Penn Medicine, Savvas Learning Company, and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Pennsylvania's combination of large urban school districts, regional children's hospital networks, and county-level intermediate units creates a broad range of employer types beyond single school buildings.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most educational audiologist jobs?
Pennsylvania, Lancaster, and Muncy account for the largest share of educational audiologist openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia dominates due to the sheer size of its school district and the concentration of academic medical centers, while Pittsburgh's strength comes from UPMC's children's and rehabilitation networks, and Harrisburg and its surrounding counties generate consistent demand through the intermediate units that serve dozens of smaller school districts across south-central Pennsylvania.
Are there remote educational audiologist jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're rare. The core work of an educational audiologist, conducting hearing screenings, fitting hearing devices, and attending IEP meetings in person, requires physical presence in schools and clinics. About 100% of educational audiologist openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to involve tele-audiology consultations, report writing, or administrative coordination rather than direct student assessment.
How can I get hired as a educational audiologist in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an Au.D. externship or fourth-year placement within a Pennsylvania school district or children's hospital, which frequently converts to a hire. UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and intermediate units such as the Capital Area Intermediate Unit run supervised placements that give new graduates direct school-based experience. Candidates coming from speech-language pathology assistant roles or audiology technician positions have a strong lateral path if they complete their Au.D. Holding an active Pennsylvania license and a student-issued ASHA CCC-A application status gives candidates a clear edge in competitive urban postings.
Where can I find and apply to educational audiologist jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to educational audiologist jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across school districts, hospital systems, and intermediate units. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly from each listing.
