Electrical Engineer Jobs in Irvine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an electrical engineer job in Irvine?
Focus your search on Irvine's defense contractors, semiconductor firms, and medical device companies, which consistently post the most openings. The Irvine Spectrum and Irvine Business Complex are the densest hiring corridors. Candidates with hands-on PCB design, power systems, or RF engineering experience stand out locally. Targeting mid-size defense and medtech employers tends to move faster than pursuing large primes, and many post directly rather than exclusively through agencies.
Which companies hire electrical engineers in Irvine?
Irvine electrical engineer roles are posted by WSP, Etap, and Jacobs and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Irvine's employer mix skews toward defense contractors, IC design houses, and medical device manufacturers, many of them mid-size firms with dedicated engineering teams.
Are there remote electrical engineer jobs in Irvine?
Yes, though remote options are limited for most electrical engineer roles because hardware work, lab testing, and prototype builds require on-site presence. About 46% of electrical engineer openings tied to Irvine are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those openings tend to be in systems engineering, verification, or technical program management rather than hands-on circuit or product development roles.
How can I get an electrical engineer job in Irvine with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Irvine is through junior or associate engineer roles at mid-size defense and medical device firms, which often hire new graduates and rotate them across functional teams. Internship pipelines at local semiconductor and aerospace companies also convert frequently to full-time offers. Candidates with senior capstone projects, FPGA coursework, or lab-bench experience gain an edge over those with purely academic backgrounds, and proximity to UC Irvine's engineering network opens additional doors.
Which industries hire the most electrical engineers in Irvine?
The sectors hiring the most electrical engineers in Irvine are Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Irvine's concentration of defense primes, IC design startups, and regulated medical device makers creates steady baseline demand that holds even when broader tech hiring slows.
