Electrical Engineer Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a electrical engineer job in Los Angeles?
Electrical engineer hiring in Los Angeles concentrates in aerospace and defense along the South Bay and San Fernando Valley, in power and utilities across the greater metro, and in consumer electronics and advanced manufacturing on the Westside. Candidates who hold active security clearances stand out immediately for defense roles, while those with power systems or high-voltage experience are in demand across infrastructure projects tied to LA's grid modernization push. Targeting companies clustered in El Segundo, Torrance, and Chatsworth gives you the densest pocket of open roles.
Which companies hire electrical engineers in Los Angeles?
Companies currently hiring electrical engineers in Los Angeles include AECOM, Arcadis, and Snap, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Los Angeles draws a wide range of employers, from major defense primes and aerospace manufacturers to municipal utilities, entertainment technology firms, and clean-energy infrastructure contractors.
Are there remote electrical engineer jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though remote work is limited for electrical engineers since most roles require hands-on lab, field, or manufacturing work. About 32% of electrical engineer openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, skewing toward analytical, design, and systems-engineering roles rather than test, commissioning, or installation positions. In Los Angeles, hybrid arrangements are most common at software-adjacent hardware firms and corporate engineering offices on the Westside.
How can I get a electrical engineer job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is a junior or associate engineer role at one of the region's mid-size defense subcontractors, which hire new graduates at a higher rate than the large primes and offer hands-on exposure quickly. Pursuing an internship or co-op with a South Bay aerospace firm or the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power during school builds local references that carry real weight. Entry-level roles in facilities engineering at studios or tech campuses in Burbank and Culver City are another practical lateral move that many local engineers use to get a first full-time credit.
Which industries hire the most electrical engineers in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles electrical engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The region's deep aerospace and defense industrial base, combined with major ongoing investments in renewable energy infrastructure and entertainment technology, makes Los Angeles one of the few U.S. metros where electrical engineers find consistent demand across multiple high-volume sectors simultaneously.
