Electrical Engineering Intern Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a electrical engineering intern in Idaho?
Becoming an electrical engineering intern in Idaho starts with enrollment in an ABET-accredited electrical engineering program at a university such as Boise State University, the University of Idaho, or Idaho State University. Idaho does not require interns to hold a Professional Engineer license, but familiarity with Idaho Power's grid environment or INL's safety protocols can strengthen a candidate's profile. Applying early in the fall recruiting cycle gives the best access to structured intern cohorts.
Which companies hire electrical engineering interns in Idaho?
Employers hiring electrical engineering interns in Idaho right now include ICCU, Fred Meyer, and Saint Alphonsus Health System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Idaho's utility sector and semiconductor industry, anchored by Idaho Power and Micron Technology respectively, generate the most consistent intern openings across power systems and process engineering disciplines.
Which Idaho cities have the most electrical engineering intern jobs?
Idaho Falls, Boise, and Lewiston lead Idaho for electrical engineering intern openings. Boise drives the highest volume through its concentration of technology firms, utility headquarters, and growing semiconductor operations, while Idaho Falls benefits from proximity to Idaho National Laboratory, and Pocatello draws demand from Idaho State University's engineering partnerships and regional manufacturing facilities.
Are there remote electrical engineering intern jobs in Idaho?
Yes, but they're rare. Electrical engineering intern work is largely hands-on, involving lab equipment, test benches, and physical infrastructure that require on-site presence. About 0% of electrical engineering intern openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those that are tend to focus on software-adjacent tasks such as simulation modeling or data analysis rather than hardware or field work.
How can I get hired as a electrical engineering intern in Idaho with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured intern programs at Idaho's large anchor employers before completing junior year, as organizations like Idaho Power and Idaho National Laboratory specifically recruit students with no prior professional experience. Campus career fairs at Boise State and the University of Idaho provide direct access to these recruiters. Completing relevant coursework in power systems or embedded design and building a small project portfolio, even from class labs, gives candidates a concrete edge over applicants with identical GPAs.
Where can I find and apply to electrical engineering intern jobs in Idaho?
You can find and apply to electrical engineering intern jobs in Idaho on Migrate Mate, which lists current Idaho openings updated regularly. Search the available roles by location or specialty, find a position that matches your program year and technical focus, and apply directly to the employer through the listing.
